Starters: Wood grilled octopus was amazing. I would 100% come back just for this appetizer. Wife and I were indecisive on whether to get the spicy mussels or the octopus, and the server recommended the octopus. She was absolutely correct! Perfect amount of char and seasoning.
Pasta: We decided to do half portions of the smoked and sweet corn ravioli and the bolognese. This is where I get somewhat annoyed about the food. The raviolia was very good. You get a nice balance between the smoked ricotta and sweetness from the corn. HOWEVER the portion size was tiny, especially for $15. 5 individual ravioli. That's $3 per ravioli!! It was smaller than the appetizer. The bolognese was only okay. Lacked depth but the pappardelle was cooked nicely.
Main: We both got lamb chops and this is where the disappointment continues. Wife's lamb chops were cooked as requested, medium-rare. I asked for the same, but mine were delivered well-done. I noted this to the server, she profusely apologized and sent in a request for a new dish to be brought out. It came in only a few minutes. I will admit the service was 5/5. There were multiple times where the server and front of house would swing by and apologize. I really appreciated the attention to detail and service. The lamb chops overall were only okay. Common with the pasta, it was just a small portion, especially for a main dish. The char was a little bit too much, even when cooked to the correct temp.
Dolce: This is where the service continues to impress. We ordered the tiramisu and to our surprise a tiramisu and pana cotta were brought out. The FOH kindly comped desert and gave us an extra, the pana cotta. The pana cotta was absolutely amazing. It was on the same level as the octopus. The tiramisu was a little disappointing. It was quite soggy at the bottom, moreso than a regular tiramisu should be. There was standing liquid. I would not get this again.
Overall: The service definitely is the saving grace of our experience. While the food overall was okay, the octopus and pana cotta were amazing. I would come back here but wouldn't go out of my way. Wife and I traveled all the way from the loop area and probably wouldn't make the trip again, but if we ever find ourselves in Andersonville again,...
Read moreThe first time i went here was on a whim and it was a fantastic experience. We had the steak and a lemon panna cotta dessert that was delicious. On our second visit we had a bit more expectations this time and they let us down. We were seated in the back patio, and all the heating elements were turned up to the max. We politely told the waiters it was uncomfortably hot and the heaters being red hot from the heat and touching the wires from the lights made us feel a little unsafe. A couple sat next to us and they also complained about the heat. The wait staff would lower the temp and a busser would show up literally 5 seconds later and turn it back up. We asked to lower again and this cycle happened again. Eventually the couple sitting next to us asked to be moved inside and i wish we did the same. Not sure why the bussers insisted on the heaters all be set to the max and be red hot from the flames. Even though two sets of customers complained and one even asked to be moved inside. The food was also just OK. We asked for medium rare steak and we got medium with the ends being well done. So not as flavorful and tender as we would like. The cocktail i ordered also wasnt very good and my significant other got a mocktail that she also didnt enjoy. Luckily the dessert was still awesome. We left underwhelmed and probably wont come back after...
Read moreMy wife and I have heard so much about Anteprima. Everyone raved about it. So last night for my wife's birthday dinner, we picked up dinner from Anteprima and planned on having a beautiful candle lit dinner at home.
When I got home, I quickly found that I should start making food myself. Now, The food itself was delicious, but the amount of food that was served with a meal is outrageously small.
I ordered the Scottish Salmon which was the smallest piece of salmon i have been served in any restaurant. That was also the only thing in the dish. There was no vegetable or anything. Just a tiny sliver of salmon that was smaller than my cell phone. How does that cost $23?
We also ordered the Goat Cheese Ravioli. Again, delicious food, but all we got was 7 pieces of tiny ravioli with a sprinkle of sauce. Nothing else. NO vegetable, No extra sauce, Nothing. $18 for nothing.
I also ordered a side and an appetizer that combined may be able to feed my goldfish. I actually measured the summer squash appetizer and it came out to less than a cup. The grilled eggplant side had 3 slices of eggplant so thin you can almost see through it.
Part of me wonders if this was just a mistake, but It is going to be hard to go back and spend another $60 plus just...
