This feels like a fast food joint, which is not something I enjoy. The food was delivered to me incredibly fast and was decent but the portion was small and it was obvious that it was not made to order.
Presentation was simply horrible. My food came in a box and I had to use a plastic fork. The excuse I was given is that's a Covid policy. Well, the pandemic has been declared as over by the World Health Organization and nobody was wearing a mask, so I can only assume they're just being cheap. Even though I complained about it, the (admittedly friendly) staff didn't do anything about it. Imagine bringing a date only to have them eat with kids party utensils.
They have water refill but you have to refill it yourself. It's just a minor experience, but when other places do it for you, it makes you wish they would do it too.
After I finished my meal, nobody asked me if I enjoyed the food or anything. So they don't really care about customer feedback at all. It feels like they're a takeout restaurant and the onsite dining is an after-thought.
They also have that stupid Toast machine that asks for tipping before you even get the food. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say most people hate these machines. Get rid of it please.
Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience. If the cook was made to order and the presentation and customer service was better, I'd become a regular. Not the case. It has a lot of potential to become a cozy little Thai restaurant but they have a lot of work to do.
The only reason I'm not giving it 1 star is because the staff is friendly and for takeout it's probably okay.
If you're in the Irving Park/Buena Park area, I'd recommend going to Siam Noodles &...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this restaurant and were so disappointed. Here’s why.
The atmosphere: admittedly pretty cute! It has some fake plants around it with some soft music in the background. There’s no public bathroom though which is always a disappointment for a restaurant. It was 86 degrees according to their thermostat.
My food: a panang curry with tofu. While I got what I ordered I ended up only eating a little bit of it because of how bland it was. It was a coconut base with very little spice and it didn’t have the peanut flavoring that this curry is known for. Additionally I requested no bell peppers. Not only were they included but they also put tomatoes in my curry which was not stated on the menu.
I got some spring rolls that were pretty good! But after eating the other stuff the damage had already been done 😿 The Thai iced tea smoothie that I got was good but since it was so hot, it was already halfway melted when it got to me.
My wife’s food: they ordered a tom yum soup but what they got was a vegetable soup that lacked the sour flavors that the soup usually has. When they asked for glass noodles in the soup, they were charged for an extra entree of crispy noodles. This is a standard Thai dish!
Overall it feels like a fast food place but has the prices of a sit...
Read moreI hadn't eaten here since the revamp and rename of the place. Not sure if they're owned by new owners, but my friend and I were glad to have eaten here. It's small and could sit a small amount if folks plan to stay and eat, but lots of people order takeout. It seemed popular the night we went because there were many takeout orders. Everything was made to order, so be prepared to wait a little. The wait was well worth it! I had the panang chicken curry with rice, and my friend ordered the basil fried rice. Both were tasty and had the right amounts of flavor and spice. We also order gyoza soup and tom yum soup, which were perfect on a cold day. For drinks, I had the lemonade while my friend had the Thai iced tea. We ended dinner with mango sticky rice with a side drizzle of condense milk, and it was amazing! I highly...
