Came for the World Sake Day tasting which was a great value for the price. Had some really good offerings and some unusual ones as well. The staff and sake reps were all super nice, friendly, and well-informed. The food was overall ok. The crab rangoon dip was good although a few chips seemed kind of stale because they were so hard. The karaage was moist on the inside but we weren't fond of the batter as it was reminiscent of something from Harold's chicken shack. The tonkatsu sando was delicious and perfectly executed. The egg salad sando, however, left much to be desired. The jammy egg was probably 30secs too well done, the bread was stale, and not enough mayo, salt, or pepper used. Seeing as how they have Konbini in their name, it would be great if they offered instant noodles as a dine-in option as well...

took me a while to venture out here after it opened (been going to Konbini & Kanpai on Belmont for years and love it so much) — but so glad i finally made it in!

lovely owners, nice space, the bar is really pretty, and most importantly the food and drinks were great. Chicago has had a huge gap in non-sushi Japanese food and glad to see this add to the mix.

the sando, katsu, and appetizers were excellent and the sake and cocktail companions were great!

and don’t sleep on the Japanese flan — as a pretty serious connoisseur of flans, this was a winner!

looking forward to the...

Not only is this place my favorite place, but the ownership is incredible. Naomi and Jun-Jun are kind, thoughtful people, and intentional, generous hosts. Everything is curated to perfection and unique in so many ways. Chicago is so lucky to have this place in our midst. If you are someone that doesn’t think they like sake, you just haven’t tried good sake. THIS is the place to go for really any good beverage, alcoholic or NA. And if it couldn’t get any better, their food may be the best part about it all. They have created the perfect menu. We cannot rave enough...

My friend and I visited for their restaurant week offerings, and everything was delicious—especially the miso salmon. We both agreed it was the best salmon we've ever had! (Fingers crossed it makes its way onto the regular menu) Also, the sake flight pairings were a thoughtful touch, allowing us to explore flavors we wouldn’t typically choose. We were particularly loved the Uji green tea umeshu. Overall, a great experienced and looking forward to going back!
