Though I have always hated coffee, I figured I should at least try theirs since it is their brand. As a coffee hater, I was surprised I actually liked the Honey Lavender Latte. I expected to get it and not drink it, but I finished the whole thing.
I was more there for the food, but did not have the time to dine in. I decided to just be late and order the crab benedict on yucca bread. It took so much longer than expected, typically cafe food is out in a flash since it is mostly premade. I was floored when my dish finally arrived and in both presentation and taste, I thought I was at a high end eatery. It clear it was made with extreme care and skill. I posted a picture because I was flabbergasted.
The ambience is absolutely killer with the flooding of natural light, soft music and trendy, modern style. Not a cafe goer myself, but would recommend to anyone who enjoys this.
Lastly Cesar was extremely helpful and attentive. This might change as they get busier, but if he has the time he goes in depth about the options and their origins, and will engage in friendly conversation.

Read moreI visited for brunch on a Saturday morning with a friend, and from the moment I walked in, I knew we were in for something special. The service alone deserves five stars. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
One of the biggest draws for us was that The Lanzaga is BYOB, and they handle it with such class. We brought a bottle of sparkling wine, and the staff immediately took care of everything, including opening it, setting it in an ice bucket, and serving it in real champagne flutes. It elevated the whole experience and showed how thoughtful their service is.
The food is absolutely exceptional. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with chorizo and scrambled eggs, and I can confidently say it might be the best version I’ve had anywhere in Chicago.
The atmosphere at The Lanzaga is another plus, being warm, welcoming, and pleasantly quiet, making it an ideal spot for catching up with a friend or enjoying a relaxed meal.
Overall, The Lanzaga checks every box: incredible food, top-notch service, and an inviting atmosphere. I’d recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a hidden gem brunch...
Read moreWent to The Lanzaga for dinner last night, and unfortunately, it was a bit of a mixed experience. The restaurant was quiet, with only two other tables occupied, so we got attentive service from a nice waiter.
We both ordered the skirt steak, which was very tender but lacked seasoning—definitely could have used more flavor. They were out of yams, which was disappointing since I’d been looking forward to trying them. Instead, we had the fried yuca and sweet plantains, which were tasty, and the ranch dipping sauce for the yuca was a nice touch.
The biggest downside was the price. The bill came to near $100 for two people, which seemed high, especially considering the lack of seasoning on the main course. The coffee, however, was excellent; maybe they shine more as a breakfast spot. I might come back for breakfast someday if they’re still around, but with several similar places offering better prices, I probably wouldn’t...
