I really wanted to like this place! Unfortunately we had such a terrible experience trying to order from them last night. We started out by placing an order (for 1 full slab of ribs and a few sodas) directly through their website, using Slice. Also note, I have used Slice before with no issues. We placed our order at 5:19 pm with an estimated delivery time of 5:54-6:09. We missed a call at about 6 pm from who we believe was the driver. Just one call, no message left no attempt to contact again. By the time 6:20 came around, I contacted customer service via Slice and the agent notified us that the driver was just leaving the store for our house. We waited and waited, no delivery person ever came. I waited until about 7:10 and then contacted Slice customer service again. This time I was told that the driver had came to our building but couldn’t get through due to our doorman not being at his post. We were told the driver left our order at the security desk. We went down to check and the doorman had been on duty since 5 pm and hadn’t left his post at all—there wasn’t any delivery left for us. We told the customer service agent from Slice that it wasn’t there and the agent basically replied with a sorry and we will contact you at a later time in regards to a refund…. So, that was a hassle and a waste of 2 hours. We decided to give it another try and placed an order through Uber Eats. About 10-15 minutes after placing our order, we received a call from the store telling us that they were out of ribs at that time and offered us something else in its place. We chose not to order anything else, as we just wanted ribs. They obviously didn’t care for that, because after our response they refused to cancel the order through Uber eats, telling us to cancel the order on our end. The Problem with that is Uber eats will still charge you a fee if you cancel!!!! The order total was around $31 and they wanted to charge us $30 to cancel it. Absolutely not!!! We decided to just leave the order as pending delivery and let the restaurant deal with it at closing. So, we spent around $80, placing 2 orders with 2 different delivery services and were basically told to pound sand when we wanted a refund!!! This isn’t over either; now we have to spend more time to figure out a refund through slice and follow up with Uber Eats!!! What a freaking mess! I was shocked at the lack of care for the customer that was displayed by the restaurant. Extremely disappointing. I walk by the restaurant on a daily basis and their bbq smells absolutely divine. (You'd be better off NOT taking your Taste for Fried wings & Gyro into this place!!!) I Ordered a Gyros sandwich with EVERYTHING got NO cheese, $9.99, with an extra cucumber sauce$1.29 & 1 extra pita $ $1.39, 5 fried chicken wing dinner $11.99 sauce on top an additional .99 and 1 side sauce $.99, tax 1 $26.64, tax 1 amount $2.86 for a (Total of $29.50) Without any beverage. Checking my food before leaving Uptowns Establishment, I've got what looks like a Mini Gyros Approximately $3.50 worth of Gyro meat and Confront Counter about it, I asked if this ws a $10.00 Gyros? Told them that they just LOST a customer and that I won't be coming back! Stick up without a Gun! ROBBED of both my food & my money, NO one offered to make it right! (But Cashier Sarcastically says to me: have a nice day!) my Response: I Will! I get home and the Gyros meat is DRY & Over Cooked, The DRY Fried Chicken wings and Sauce were OVERLY - Salty, These people have Managed to Ruin their own Reputation for being a Decent place to eat, and Obviously have become Very Complacent being the one Restaurant with the Menu of its kind being in Chicago's Uptown Neighborhood! This was THEE NASTIEST food I've Eaten, in a Long time and a TOTAL waste to my taste buds, money and Commute! I think it's about time you old dudes hang up your Aprons and Attitudes! Read moreI work at a building where we often have staff meetings. We have many menues to choose from. A few of the menues is from Uptown Pizza & BBQ. A couple of days prior to one meeting and because of me, this restaurant was chosen as the place we would buy our Staff Meeting Lunch from. The lunch was great, and I continued to order from this place for my personal lunches. Recently though, the cook who take orders over the phone seems to be determined to undermine the company with rude customer service.
A week ago, I made an order for delivery and the food never came. I didn't call back, or re-order, because I was busy and it was too close to the end of my shift. REMARKABLY, the same thing happened today, but this time I called and asked to speak with the manager. WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT? The rude cook answered the phone. When I asked for the manager, he wanted to know who was I, and for what reason I wanted to speak to the manager? When I told him I was a customer, he said the manager wasn't there. I called back 30 minutes later, and he said the same thing. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES! I will NEVER order from this place again, and when the subject of lunch comes up, I will discourage anybody within ear shot to not order lunch from Uptown Pizza & Barbecue Restaurant. WHAT'S MORE? I removed all of their menues from the place we keep restaurant menues.
