THANK YOU Parlor Doughnuts for coming to downtown Lakeland! This is a fantastic donut spot that will surely keep busy for years to come.
Parlor Doughnuts is originally out of Indiana I believe, so it was very interesting to hear they were expanding to Lakeland- and that first day open was insane. I saw pictures of the line literally out the door, down the street and around the block. Now, after going to try it, I understand and think it’s worth the wait. Okay, maybe not that extreme of a wait but 10-15 minutes like when I went was totally fine.
The donuts here are a little different in that none of them have holes. They’re big pieces of dough with various toppings and some with fillings. But they’re also kind of crunchy on the outside while still being soft on the inside and it is a marvelous combination of textures and tasty goodness.
I tried the maple bacon, which I’m not sure why because I’m normally never a maple bacon fan. But this was easily one of the best versions of that donut I’ve ever had. It’s literally made me look differently at maple bacon flavors now. The bacon was in smaller, crispier bits and the maple frosting was melty perfection.
They have a decent selection of coffees as well, both basic and more complex like cold brews, lattes, etc. We all enjoyed our coffees a lot. Between that and the donuts it was an excellent trip.
But they not only serve donuts, if you wanted something else besides the sweets. They do have some breakfast sandwiches/ savory breakfast items on the menu. I tried the breakfast tacos and they were very simple but that made them absolutely delicious and not a crumb was left behind.
Lastly, I really love the theme and style Parlor Doughnuts has going on, it’s really well done. From the cool tiled floor with all the gold accents and big hanging lamps, it almost feels like this place should be in the midst of NYC or some big city. Very impressed...
Read moreThursday morning 10ish 9/25 The service I received outweighed everything else. I order one donut and a medium decaf coffee. The cashier (Hispanic with glasses) rung it up I saw it on the screen It came up to $7.17 I gave her a $20 she then asked the barista to make the decaf coffee. The barista said we don't have decaf coffee you can only get it if you order a specialty drink. The cashier said " I haven’t cashed you out yet" I changed it to a small regular coffee. The cashier cashed it out and said "I can't give you a receipt" gave me my change $12.83. I asked " Did you ring me up for a small coffee" the cashier says "Decaf and regular are the same price", Not what I asked but ok I got my order. When I got to my car I calculated the math wasn't mathing. I went back in with that hot coffee no cup sleeve, when it was my turn same cashier "can i help you" I said "I asked you did you charge me for a small or a medium coffee, I need my fifty cents or you can give me a medium regular coffee." She says "oh let me look" gives me the fifty cents and walks away. No apology no nothing and on top of that what makes it very dishonest was the "oh I can't give you a receipt!" It was very misleading and no kind of remorse no integrity. That was very much NOT exceptional service at a moderate price. I use to like this place, everytime a place in lakeland becomes popular the customer service always goes down, I will...
Read moreI just went to Parlour for the first time. I will not be going back. I ordered an assorted dozen donuts, the first three being maple bacon. I asked to get those in a separate box as there was a vegetarian in our group. They put the three in a separate box, then filled another box of 12 random donuts. I assumed a mobile order came in and they were just filling that for some reason. Then she stacked the boxes and said it was ready. I was confused and asked why I didn't get to choose the other 9 donuts. She said the assorted was random. I explained I wanted to choose my donuts and had chosen the 1st 3 already. She opened the box and showed us the donuts. I honestly couldn't see over the counter so my friend had to describe the donuts. I asked for the donuts I wanted, she swapped random ones from the box for the ones I requested. They were all using the same tongs on all different donuts, which is a completely separate issue and a health hazard. I asked for the donuts I wanted and went to pay. She gave me 15, instead of the 12 I initially ordered. They charged me for 15. Whatever it's fine. They put egg on my friend's toast, when she asked for no egg. From entering to receiving our food, we were there for 40 minutes. Everything was mediocre and overpriced. The donuts don't even taste like donuts. 15 donuts, 2 tacos, 1 biscuit sandwich, and a dog treat for $55 and a 40 minute wait. I will not...
