Subs 'n Such — Restaurant in Lakeland

I’ve been a customer for 25+ years. At times 3 days a week I ordered from this restaurant. Today however I called ahead with my address to verify they would deliver and they agreed. The distance was 4.2 miles away (I have always picked up from them). They ensured they would but had 1 driver they claim so asked me to be patient…the food never showed up. I called and the owner told me it was too far and the had 0 drivers! I explained the above and she said they called and I didn’t answer and they left a message. At that point I think anyone knows that’s an old AT&T excuse! I have a new iPhone…no missed call from subs and such and also no voicemail. I waited over an hour for food, I gave them my card, verified address and had NO communication. Subs & Such who I have been going to for 25 years lost a true blue customer today…it was the lie that ended it. Nothing but the lie, no one called and no one left a vm. I would have...

I first moved to Lakeland 30+ years ago. This place has been here for over 44 years. So I remember coming here as a young man. They made the best Cheese Steak subs (oolala) back then, and they still do today! You need to add their hot pepper relish to your sub - with a small kick of peppers and pickles, it adds a balance to the sub you must try.

After being away for many years, I came back for a visit, because I missed those subs. A-Squared (Absolutely-Awesome-Amazing-Ashley) recommended their Cuban on my first visit and it was everything you'd expect from a great sandwich. I came back the very next day for the cheese steak. And it was as I remembered it was, which is to say "AWESOME".

I haven't had the occasion to swing through Lakeland in several decades, but I was delighted to find that Subs 'n Such is still around after my first exposure in the mid 80's. Service was fast and friendly, and their veggie sandwich was legitimately the best veggie sub I've ever had.

I had been expecting something like a Publix sub and was planning on just picking up some Tofurky for it, but this Veggie sub was phenomenal on its own such that I didn't bother. The broccoli was chopped well, so there weren't overly large pieces to gnaw through while still adding depth of texture, and I was pleased they put green olives on in addition to the black. The cucumbers, carrots, spinach, et al just helped finish tying the room together, and I'd recommend it to any veg*n looking for a solid meal.
