Saw this place getting built and wondered how they would get employees because at the time the job market was tight; more jobs available than people looking. That certainly has changed now of course. Decided to stop by a few days ago and got sticker shock. I drove into the drive-thru as its the only thing open; I was behind one other car. I sat looking at the combo pictures and prices thinking the “steakburgers” must be great for these prices (average 8.60 before tax). I ordered the #5: a single burger, a hot dog and soda pop. I didn’t look at the rest of the menu once I got to the speaker mostly because as a first-timer the menu font seemed small and discombobulated, also I’m in the drive-thru and cars were piling up. The total came to $9.65. To put in perspective using the mobile app at McD’s with a coupon for a large fries for $1, I was able to get 4 McChickens, 3 hamburgers and said Fry for $9.50. I figured this was like a Culvers, Smash Burger or 5 Guys. I got my order, the cashier was pleasant enough, the bag felt light. As I drove away I reached into the bag to discover I had fries. At first I thought I got the wrong order because I couldn’t recall any mention of fries on the menu, but then realized its probably why the price was so high. The rest of my order was there. The burger patty was the flattest burger I’ve ever seen. Reminds me of White Castle thin. There were onion slices on the burger which made me feel better (not minced like McD’s), but the burger tasted Meh! Not like I would imagine a “steak” burger to taste. The hot dog was a lot of bun but otherwise a normal hot dog. The fries were a surprise. In addition to getting them unexpectedly they were heavily salted with what tasted like Lawry’s salt, an interesting salt. But then I found 2 packets I hadn’t expected. One was Heinz ketchup, I still haven’t opened it. The other said “Fry sauce.” It was another interesting something. It tasted like ranch dressing with mayo and maybe ketchup added for color. It made the thin fries have a taste other than salt. Overall this was an interesting experience. Once the inside is open again (should be soon given the Governor’s dial has turned to partial indoor dining) I’ll have to go inside and study the menu more. Perhaps I’ll give their custard a go (probably on par with Culver’s). But given the uninspiring burger taste my 3 stars will most...
Read moreIt's to bad I have to rate this place so low and this review is based off the 3 times I've been to this location in the last month. The food is very good I mean the fry's with the fry sauce is amazing, but this location has such bad vibes and once you get in you'll see what I'm saying. You will wait at the counter for a few minutes and not even get a hi. When someone does walk up just a simple what can I get you. There is no enthusiasm from the employees maybe it's a management issue but who knows. I grabbed one of the Ice creams from the cooler out front my first time visiting this mocation and then one time an employee had any enthusiasm he legit yelled at me... Don't touch that stuff! I was like why? He said because of covid.. I was like ok.. maybe have a sign he was like oh it did a week ago but it must have fallen down.. I was like dude really but ok whatever. A manager walked up so I asked about it n he said oh it's ok to grab them now we loosened restrictions.. he apologized but maybe communicate with your team. It's not like the kid that said don't touch was a part timer so he didn't catch the memo he's there around 11am each time I go in so he should have known. One thing you'll notice while waiting is the vibes. No one's talking it's dead silent with at least 6 employees in there. Everyone's got thier heads down and so unfriendly. When you do finally get your order the will call your number and walk away. No ty, no have a nice day.. it's so odd. I have been to the savage location and it's literally a totally positive experience. The Apple Valley, Rosemount, Lakeville location needs to have something done about this. I suggest they get some secret shoppers in there so they can learn what they are doing wrong or get your Area director in do something about this place. Ik dang well I could run this place better and create a much better culture for employees...
Read moreI wanted to try something new so I got a few things to try to see what Freddy’s had to offer. I will start by saying that it said my order would take 25-35 minutes to be ready which I was prepared for. However, I arrived early and my food was already waiting on carry out shelf. I brought the items to my car and thought I’d try a French fry which were stiff and ice cold. I should have inspected further before going a block home because everything else was also I’ve cold and overall disappointing.
I got the jalapeño pepper jack double to start and added pickles. The spice level was good I just wish I could have tasted the burger hot. I’d rate it 3/10. Next I tried the spicy chicken sandwich. I added ranch, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. One bite and all the topping fell out it was drenched in sauce. This was actually the only slightly warm item so for that it was 4/10. I ordered French fries and the cheese curds to try for sides. The cheese curds were salty, soggy, and ice cold. I’d say they were 2/10. The French fries were the worst things I’ve ever eaten. They tasted like they were days old, ice cold, dry, and lifeless. I’d never order the fries again 0/10. Finally I tried a make your own mini sundae. The toppings I selected were hot fudge, cookie dough, and whipped cream. I think there was a nice amount of cookie dough (free topping) but there was only a drizzle of hot fudge ($0.99 extra). I would not order an additional topping next time knowing how little is added as it is not worth the additional cost.
Overall, I will not try Freddy’s again very disappointing and not worth the price. They were fairly dead when I went and did my carry out so there is no reason my food should have been cold. Also the email stated my food would be ready by 6:49 PM and I was there before that time so I’m curious to know how long my food sat there waiting for me...
