Me and my friends took a trip out to Dennys on the night of the 21st of march which switched over to the 22nd. We were the only table in the restaurant that night with some to go orders coming in occasionally. The server was really great at the timing of the food and was checking on us about every 5 minutes. Once the food came out the hash browns were burnt but about 8 out of the 11 of us worked in the food industry and didn't want to say anything. So after our food our friends phone died and we was unable to provide money to the rest if the group for the food. So after covering for the money we then worked on our finances and I went into debt in my bank account to leave about a 10% tip. At this time 4 people in our group left. The server was still around and clearly heard our struggle. But after we paid the server went into the back and loudly exclaimed that she was upset on the amount of money she was tipped. 5 more of us were walking out when we heard it. The last 2 people at the table were collecting their things and she came out of the back and exclaimed that she was upset about the tip to them. One of the gentlemen gave her money meant for for a uber ride home because he felt bad. After hearing this with my 5 years in the food industry and being in management myself am very disappointed with the servers actions. I can personally understand the frustration about the tip but I draw the line at confrontation with a customer. Especially when it was obvious we did not mean to do this and we were trying to leave a tip. Another one of the persons in our party went back to explain to the waitress our position and to defend the other people in our party, after a short statement from him, she stated that “we should have thought about it before coming out to eat.” I personally will say that I am very disappointed with the servers actions and believe that the server should be punished because confronting a customer is rude and greedy...
Read moreI am 5 months pregnant and had a hankering for some late night pancakes with hash browns and bacon. My fiancée and I ordered two pancake slams for pick up. One was with cinnamon pancakes and one was with the double berries, both with extra sausage and bacon, which we gladly paid for. We ordered two milkshakes as well. When we picked up the order, the women who appeared to be the manager explained that they did not have any milk to make the milkshakes… we just accepted two juices instead since we had already paid as that was not a huge deal. When we got home with our slams… there was a worse outcome… the cinnamon roll pancakes did not have frosting to go with them and the berry pancakes had one massive pile of blueberries right in the middle where the whole glob just fell out due to there not being any pancake dough to hold the actual pancake together. The dough for that order was not cooked all the way through either. There were NO STRAWBERRIES OR BANANAS. The potatoes were not cooked for either order, the extra meat that we had paid for did not make it home with us, and the only thing that looked like it might have been cooked correctly… the over medium eggs… had a HUGE chunk of egg shell that I almost bit into. THIS WAS HANDS DOWN THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE MY FIANCÉE AND I HAVE HAD IN YEARS!!! Terrible food and terrible service, all for a take out order. It’s either extreme laziness and/or idiocracy. I never write bad reviews for restaurants as I’ve been in the industry for most of my life, but this was the hands down WORST dining experience for either of us and I am deservedly so writing this as it is shocking to me how anyone in there right mind could mess up a breakfast meal as badly as this one was. This deserves NO STARS!!! I threw mine away and wasted $50 on inedible food....
Read moreManager got order consistently wrong and grew defensive when we politely verified the order. Condiments that were listed in the menu with each order had to be asked for, for which the server copped a passive-aggressive attitude. Menu items were not read back nor repeated so she ended up bringing something I didn't order because it was on the same page as the item I ordered, to which she defensively insisted I ordered it rather than simply apologizing for the mistake and asking to clarify what I wanted. This angered me most because I was kind the whole time but she was pushy and not at all humble.
She had to be reminded to bring water for the adults. She was visibly and audibly upset her tip was only 3%. Well, the orders were consistently inaccurate, she had to be reminded things that came with the meals, she was uncomfortably defensive when I insisted I did not order fried cheese but rather the chicken appetizer (She snapped, "You did not say 'sampler'. Yeah, because the chicken finger appetizer was not a sampler.), and not welcoming at all nor acknowledging when we arrived. In fact, she appeared to go out of her way to avoid making eye contact with us when we came in. So, Denny's has become the Walmart of family eateries: soulless, resentful, and inconvenienced. Not the Denny's of my childhood.
I get it: we were a large family who came in when many people go to bed. We drove in from California. 'Not my fault Denny's is open 24 hours. Gracious servers who aim for accuracy and professionalism get generously tipped. Servers who let it show how much better they think they are than customers get their...
