House of Clarendon — Restaurant in Lancaster

June 2025: Lancaster Local Social Media raves about this place - I wanted to see for myself. Can I give them 20 stars?

The owner, the service, the choices, the cupcakes, macaroons, & cakes are all stellar! The cupcakes are unique, of such excellent quality. The cake is light, airy, & moist. The topping is not standard icing - it's delicious mousse-like but firm enough to stay domed on top. These special little cakes aren't (in my opinion) for little kid's parties - they are for people who will appreciate the quality, care, & apparent love that goes into making each one! I recommend eating with a fork on a special plate! We loved every one in the assortment I bought - can't pick a favorite.

Now let's talk about their "Dubai" Cupcake. Really hard to explain; but lots of unique filling & toppings. Decadent, Special, Unique - worth every penny!

And their Macroons were extra special melt in your mouth with bursts of flavor.

Be prepared to roll your eyes, smack your lips, and moan like Sally (in Harry met Sally) when eating all these delicious treats. You might want to wait 'till the kids go to bed!

The owner, Martine, was wonderful & made me feel seen, valued, and like a special guest. And eating their decadent treats makes us feel like royalty.

I am sure that they treat each & every customer the same way. Know that you can get a single cupcake for only $3.10. But also know, it'll be really hard to choose just one!

I wanted to buy some cupcakes for an occasion and Google’d the businesses around me to see what my peers recommended. House of Clarendon caught my eye - not only due to the glowing reviews, but also the unique selections available - so I decided to place an order for pickup.

Upon entering the business we were greeted by Martine, the owner. After stating I was there to pick up an order, Martine promptly got the order and handed it to me. Normally that would be the end of the experience, but Martine went above and beyond to explain the processes he used to create the various components of the cupcakes (the cakes themselves, the frosting, decorations, etc.) and went into detail the types of ingredients he uses. I’m a creator myself, so I appreciate when someone shows such obvious passion for their craft and takes time to educate others on their creative processes. Martine’s charisma and infectious adoration for his work were highlights of the experience, well worth the almost-hour-long drive to pick up the treats.

As for the cupcakes themselves, simply put, they were incredible. Easily the best we’ve ever tasted, and by a long shot at that. Sit down when you’re eating them, or else your knees will buckle!

The House of Clarendon did a fantastic job at making our wedding cake. I had visited 3 or 4 different cake bakers and could not find somebody that I really liked. After expressing my frustration to one of my bridesmaids she HIGHLY recommended that I give Martine at The House of Clarendon a call; he had made her wedding cake a few years prior.

Before calling him, I visited his Facebook page to see some of his creations and was blown away by the beautiful cakes that he designs!! They are so much more than just a cake! They truly are a piece of artwork!

Without even coming out to sample the cake, I knew he was the baker I wanted to hire for our wedding!

Martine is such a great guy who is very easy to work with and knows his stuff. I picked out a picture of one of the cake designs that I liked on his page and also sent him a photo of my wedding dress. He took the things I liked the most about the picture and custom designed our cake to incorporate elements from both the picture and my wedding dress!!

Everything turned out gorgeous and my guests raved about both the design and taste of the cake! PERFECTION!!
