Unfortunately, I won’t ever be returning or recommending this store to anyone again after being critized, harassed and embarrassed by an employee.
Its a hot 90degree day, my husband ran into the store to get CBD oil and Jolly Lama ice cream. This is supposed to be a really quick in and out of the store stop. Myself and our two young children are in the car with the air conditioning running when within a minute or so of sitting there an employee comes over to the window and tells me I have to turn the car off because of the exhaust (our car is not old or inefficient, you can’t smell the exhaust). I apologized and turned the car off, but I had to turn it back on a few minutes later because it was getting so hot in the car and my children were sweating and complaining about the heat. This employee is now obviously very annoyed that I turned the car back on and keeps walking over and giving me dirty looks. I’m in the car frantically texting my husband to hurry it up because I don’t know what to do. He texts me back that he’s been in the check out line but the line is really long. As soon as he exits the store the employee stops him and begins to lecture him about how we can’t have the car running because it’s so toxic, running vehicles are toxic. He tells her that we are downtown and literally surrounded by running vehicles and his kids are in the car, it’s a really hot day. She continues to give him a peace of her mind so he tells her to have a nice day and walks away because she’s being confrontational.
Lemon street market is located downtown, Lancaster City with running vehicles all around it. There is a 4 way traffic light located directly in front of it. We were parked in the end spot, our exhaust which is located at the rear of the vehicle was pointed towards the road. There was no logic or reasoning to why I couldn’t have the car on.
Literally the old chipping lead paint on the surrounding buildings and inside the store are more toxic then the exhaust that is pointed towards the road. Our car wasn’t even close to the entrance. Not to mention we are in middle of covid 19 and the employee felt the need to come over to the window and tell me turn the car off. Yikes!!
I am celiac and a natural minded mom so Lemon Street Market has always been a store that meets all of my shopping needs. My family has spent more money shopping here then I’d ever like to admit to but after that experience we will be saving a lot of money by never shopping...
Read moreWe've been going to Lemon Street for years now and I can't imagine Lancaster without it. They have a well-organized store and a fantastic selection of local and organic groceries. It's a great place to shop if you're vegan/vegetarian and are looking for specialty vegan 'meats and dairy', but there's also quality local and organic meats, eggs, and dairy products, as well as locally made breads, pastries, and grab-n-go foods like salads and sandwiches. They also have natural cleaning supplies, candles, toiletries, stationery (Rifle Paper Co), OTC herbal and homeopathic remedies, plants, handmade gifts, an extensive selection of kombucha and other bottled drinks, and are probably the best place in the city to purchase bulk grains, herbs, and spices, as well as the only place I know to get olive oil and balsamic vinegar in bulk. They also have a wonderful drinks bar where you can get coffee beverages, teas, fresh juices and smoothies. All the employees are so personable and helpful and the store is always clean, including the extremely convenient public bathroom. There's even a bulletin board where local businesses/entrepreneurs/organizations put flyers and business cards. Basically I love Lemon Street and you probably will too, unless you don't like good food and supporting your...
Read moreBeen going to Lemon Street Market since it opened years ago. LSM was good from the moment they first opened their doors and continues to improve daily. The owners support area farmers by offering locally grown produce...often 'farm to store'. (Many organic) They also support local business by offering many pre-prepared desserts, (some gluten free), and healthy home-made soups. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. It's clear careful consideration is part of the hiring policy. Two floors...(up the purple staircase) to frozen foods, essential oils, and personal care products. Easy to locate items. Clean and bright inside and out. Outside eating area hidden among hanging gourd birdhouses, potted plants, and a green wall of living trees separating parking lot from the lunch tables. Of particular note...LSM always has a fresh bowl of water ready for those...
