Iāve been a regular at this restaurant for years, and it used to be one of my favoritesāgreat food, friendly atmosphere, and a place I looked forward to visiting. However, after my recent experience, I will never be returning.
Iāve heard the place changed owners, and itās clear the new management has no clue how to run a restaurant. From the moment I walked in, things felt off. I arrived, asked for a table for two (since my friend was joining me shortly), and was told they donāt seat incomplete parties. Fair enough, Iāve seen this policy before. But hereās the problemāthere were several open tables in the restaurant, and I was told I had to stand in the middle of the tiny dining area to wait for my friend. No waiting area, just an awkward stand-around in a cramped space.
After some hesitation, I decided to just sit at a table for one, figuring it didnāt matter if I took it now or later, since the restaurant was practically empty. But when I asked to be seated at one of the three open four-top tables, the staff member ignored me completely and just plopped down my coffee at the table I was sitting at, making it clear my friend and I were no longer welcome. This was so strangeāespecially because I was paying for the coffee.
The staff then told me their system couldnāt handle it, as if that somehow justified the chaos and discomfort. I could hear employees yelling from the back about how busy things were, even though there were literally three open tables and no real reason for the stress. If your system is that fragile, youāve got bigger problems than just seating customers.
As someone who has worked in the industry for years, Iāve never experienced anything this absurd. The service was a disaster, and the food couldnāt possibly make up for the level of discomfort I felt. Itās heartbreaking because I used to love this place, but I wonāt be back, and I donāt recommend it to anyone. If you canāt handle a ten-table restaurant, youāre in the wrong business.
I hesitate to even post this review because the owner was so aggressive during my visit, Iām honestly concerned she might show up at my house to confront me. But people need to know what theyāre walking into. So, hereās my honest experienceātake it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlright, I'm going to warn you- this place is amazing. Normally a quick blurb is sufficient but for LCH, I gotta be detailed. Parking on street or in back lot. Easy to find a spot even when it's busy. Sit in or outside, and the outside is a wonderful quaint little experience I'd recommend to anyone on a pleasant day. Upon going in, you'll be greeted with some pastry in the glass counter and a friendly face to take your order. Now, I know you'll want to dive right in but I must implore you to wait just a moment! Grab a menu if you like but there's a board behind the counter with just the most amazing 'specials' (?) If that's the right word. Some awesome creations with relative themes to the season or holidays. Now, that's always changing but the menu has been 10/10 every time. I heard it's being updated soon so keep an eye out. Personal favorite is the Florentine sunrise..or sunset? I order this every time as it speaks to my soul but I cannot remember the direction of the sun. English muffin, open face, egg, tomato, spinach. Genuinely the freshest tasting tomato I've had and I'm from NJ (known for tomato production). Okay so moving on, LCH Latte is a wonderful variant on coffee that doesn't contain a ton of added flavor but stands out as a personal favorite. I get 2 every time I go but don't tell them they're both for me! Obviously there are tons of other variants on coffee and similar drinks I couldn't even begin to explain them all but I beseech thee explore the menu yourself. Now normally that's all, right? You thought. LCH has such a community vibe and is a great spot to learn a little about what's going on in the community via friendly conversation or posted event fliers. And don't forget to check out the art on the walls made by local artists and priced fairly. Grabbed a few of these as I'm in love with their depiction of flowers. Why there's only 5 stars to give when Langhorne Coffee House deserves every star in the night sky...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff here aren't the most welcoming crew, gotta say! My first experience of that was a few months ago when I went for breakfast with my son - the young woman who waited on us refused to look at me, wouldn't smile, showed no friendliness - but with other folks she was warm and kind. I have honestly no idea why - I didn't say or do anything that would cause tension, just ordered our food and said thank you, gave a tip, etc. More recently I went again for breakfast with my son and the woman at the counter (I think she's one of the owners) gave no greeting, no smile, nothing - I asked, "Do you know how long the wait might be?" (tables were full) and she said bluntly, "I have no idea." She didn't seem to have anything else to add, so my son and I left; but then I saw tables outside and went back in thinking we could sit at one of those. I stood at the counter waiting - I know the woman who'd spoken to me before saw us but just would not acknowledge us.. It was odd. I eventually went up to where she was behind the counter and asked if my son and I could sit at a recently vacated table - she said, "I don't care," and shrugged. Again, no idea where the rudeness was coming from - maybe stress from how busy it was? I said something like "I'm not trying to be difficult," and she launched into a tirade right then and there, and everybody in the store was watching and listening. Yikes. She said I'd turned on my heel in a huff and left without saying anything initially (?), that she was the only one working, etc - very loud and upset. I just stayed calm and decided it was time to go elsewhere because at that point it just felt too awkward and tense to stay.
I think she was stressed out and I understand that, but the rudeness right off the bat - the lack of welcome, a smile, hello - was a bummer. We went to Turning Point in Newtown and the staff there was very kind...
