TL;DR: We ordered pizza at 7:59 PM, and at 10:27 PM we called the store and the delivery driver was back there for the night and we never got our pizza.
We ordered our pizza at 7:59 PM for delivery.
The email stated that the pizza would be delivered by 8:44-8:59 pm.
At 9:05 pm we called the store and asked where our order was in the delivery process. The person that answered the phone stated that I was the 7th caller today asking about it and that the online system is not giving correct delivery estimates, and that they have been having that problem all day and are arriving 30 minutes to 1 hour later than I was told via the email. He also assured me that it was going on the next car out and that it had not been sitting in a heater, and was baked just recently.
At 9:41 pm, the delivery driver called me and told me that she went down a dirt road and cannot find our building. I stated that she should not have had to go down a dirt road, and gave directions. She said okay and hung up.
At 9:54 pm, 13 minutes later, we still had not had our order. The whole complex can be walked in 13 minutes. I called the store. The same man answered and said that our pizza was out for delivery. I told him that the driver had called me 13 minutes ago, and still had not arrived. He explained that he would try and call her but that her phone does not receive calls and suggested I try. He said he would try to call her and have her call me.
At 10:04 pm, the driver called again and said that the GPS took her to a different address, and was now just entering our complex. I sat on the phone . She said that she would have to get out of her car to see the numbers. I told her okay, and I said I was going to go outside too, so look for two people outside with a flashlight. She said okay and hung up.
I ran outside and my fiance and I stood outside looking for her until 10:16 pm and I tried calling her at 10:07 pm telling her we were looking. At 10:17 pm I decided to walk the complex looking for her car in order to help her. I did not see her car anywhere, and I returned to my fiance.
Then, I called the store again at 10:27 pm. A woman's voice answered the phone that sounded like our driver! She said one moment and put a man named Nathan on the phone. He said, "Jet's Pizza, we're closed." I explained to him that we were waiting for our delivery. He said he wasn't sure how this was possible since the delivery driver was back. I told him I was very disappointed since we had been outside for 25 minutes waiting for her just for her to leave. And, we had already waited 2 hours before that! He said that he saw we were loyal customers and promised to put a note on our account that next time we ordered, we could order whatever we wanted and it would be free on them. I told him I really do appreciate that, but it was also really frustrating because we had waited for so long, stood outside for almost a half hour, and still did not have any pizza. We were so so hungry. He told us again he was sorry and that we could order whatever we like next time.
I asked him if the order came back with the driver. He said it did not. I asked if she had told him that she had not delivered the pizza. He said she had not.
I told him, "some unsolicited advice, she should be fired." He said he would talk about it with his manager. We will be heading to the store tomorrow to talk with the manager, and ask about what happened, while also seeing if there is a signature for our delivery. We were charged for it, and if it is signed, we will need to take that up with...
Read moreI have worked in the pizza delivery business in the past, and I am also a consumer who orders delivery and carry out from assorted pizza business in the Lansing area, so I have experience and understanding from both sides of the 'counter'. I've read the complaints over the past few years about the S. Cedar location, and wanted to address some of them from personal experiences working in the business. 1) Your food should always be hot, correct and have no mistakes. When it does happen, call and explain the problem in a calm and polite tone, and if the manager gives issue, take their name and call corporate. However, most will assist in either making a correct pizza or they will offer credit. If you came in to pick up, and expect it to be delivered, you will be charged a delivery fee.. the drivers make below the min. wage, plus 1/2 of the delivery charge you pay and they likely won't be tipped (while it's not mandatory to tip, drivers do tend to be more 'expedient' to homes they know a tip is waiting). So, no; never will you get free delivery, under any circumstance. 2) There's a large turn over in fast food, for whatever reasons, such businesses are constantly training new people in their stores, so if you call and ask a question and the person needs to ask another co-worker, be patient; it could be their first day, their first week, or they've had chances to the menu. 3) When you're quoted a pick up or delivery time, that time is based on how many orders are ahead of you, how many drivers are on the clock at the time, and the over all average orders per hour the business expects to have. It would be worse to quote a time that they can't meet and you feel your order is late. Most times they will exceed your expectations. 4) Delivery zones: they are limited for a reason, to expedite the delivery times. I worked in three different pizza delivery jobs and each had different sized zones based on location.
Want to clarify I am not out right just defending any pizza store, Jet's or otherwise, even if it seems so. When you order you deserve quick, efficient food and service, no exceptions. Just remember, like any business, errors happen and it's not intentional. (rude...
Read moreI have ordered from Jets a few times, and the food is good, but the employees leave MUCH to be desired. I have called twice now to try and place an order. Last night I let it go because I figured they were busy, but just now when I tried to place an order again, I was told pick up only. When I told the employee I thought they delivered (they do, I was only being polite), he informed me that they don’t deliver after 8:00. It’s not 8:00 o’clock yet. I pointed this out and he then-with a rude tone-replied “yeah well we only got one driver”. What annoyed me enough to write this bad review was the fact that I called him out on the policy and would not have minded waiting, but if the policy is that they don’t deliver after 8:00, then they should have honored the fact that I called before 8:00. I could hear the disregard and apathy in his voice, and you can not in one breath say that these people deserve $15 an hour, while in the same breath excusing the lack of professionalism in what is a service based industry. I will be ordering from a competitor, and will furthermore be reaching out to both corporate and/or the store franchise owner. This employee just cost this location not only my business, but possibly additional business for those who may see this review, or future business when my friends or family want to order pizza that won’t be from this Jet’s location. Clearly the employee doesn’t care. I’m sure it’s just a job that he doesn’t plan to make a career out of. It’s not his bottom line that will pay the price. I do not trust Jet’s to make this right without doing something unhygienic or highly inappropriate to my food, so they have simply lost me as a customer, which is unfortunate, as I have ordered from them...
