Looks nice walking in, don’t fall for it. Turn around and walk back out. Came on Saturday evening around 8 with a Family of 6, everyone over the age of 12. I really don’t leave a lot of restaurant reviews and certainly not bad ones but this experience I couldn’t not say something.
Food: Tried to order prime rib and they were out. HUGE letdown as this is what I had been craving. For advertising prime rib on Friday and Saturday night and not closing till 11, being out of prime rib at 8 seems wrong. Ordered a New York Strip as a substitute, medium rare. Doneness was fine however it was only lukewarm and relatively flavorless and fairly small considering its price. I had a wedge salad and fries as sides. The salad came so drenched in dressing it was literally dripping off the plate onto the table. The fries were the best part of the meal however I did notice that everyone else had twice as many. As for the rest of the family, my wife ordered a burger cooked well done and she was not able to eat much of it because it was nearly raw in the center. A couple others in our party had pulled pork sandwiches which they said tasted ok at best and were room temperature, with a side of chips and salsa, the salsa being “watered down and less than decent” leading to an overall meal that was mediocre.
Service: Also much to be desired here. Our server was initially quick however seemed to become more interested in her phone than service after our food arrived leading to empty drinks and overall inattention to our tables needs.
Bathrooms: To add insult to injury, my wife described her bathroom experience and rather awkward. Apparently there were gaps so large in the stall walls and doors that one could have a face to face conversation with others getting their...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Evening at Altitude Chophouse & Brewery, Thanks to Joao!
We kicked off a special weekend at Altitude Chophouse & Brewery… a reunion to celebrate my best friend’s birthday, her son starting college here, and our first time all together during the Thanksgiving holiday. While we came for great food and drinks, Joao, our waiter, made the evening absolutely unforgettable.
Joao didn’t just take our order—he turned our table into a margarita-making extravaganza! With plenty of humor and flair, he gave us a crash course in crafting the perfect margarita, complete with spilling a little salt (on purpose, we’re sure) and expertly showing how to rim a glass without losing the lime in the process. By the time we were sipping our drinks, we were laughing, learning, and fully enjoying the best margaritas we’ve had in ages. His creativity and spontaneity made it one of the most entertaining moments of the night.
The food was fantastic. The tacos were flavorful and satisfying, and the sirloin was tender and well-seasoned. Everything was cooked just right and served with care. Joao’s recommendations really helped us narrow down the menu, and his enthusiasm made the whole dining experience seamless and enjoyable.
What truly set Joao apart was his authenticity. He made us feel celebrated and appreciated. His kindness, respect, and effortless charm brought an energy that’s hard to find these days.
If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s a little out of the ordinary and a lot unforgettable, ask for Joao at Altitude. He turned our first visit into a night we’ll talk about for years. Cheers to you, Joao—you’ve set the bar (and the...
Read moreI travel all over the world and often engage in dinner business meetings. As a local businessman I am always looking for a suitable restaurant to take our clientele when they are in Laramie. I have on several occasions resorted to trying Altitude (or maybe should be called Attitude) for these occasions. I have brought in Chrysler executives, Presidents of large international companies, UW faculty as well as other dignitaries and am completely amazed at the lack of quality people Altitude employs and the overall disrespect and ignorance of the managers and waitstaff. The last (and believe me it is the last) time we tried to patronize this worthless establishment we called way ahead early in the day to schedule a reservation. When we arrived we were told our table was mistakenly given away to someone with the same name. Really? There are only four people in Albany county with our last name and they are my family. So after accepting their lie we waited for nearly an hour to be seated and were finally seated in the pool room. This with the President of Tillotson Corporation and two of his engineers, us and our engineers and wives. Once seated we again waited an hour to be served cold food, wrong orders and a bunch more excuses. I finally spoke to the shift manager a very nice but totally unhelpful young lady who promised that the general manager would give me a call and was certain some retribution could be made. Of course that never happened. Best option is if you want to entertain in Laramie, don't. Have your clientele stay in Denver when they get off the plane and do your entertaining in Colorado, where at least they are glad to...
