I was compelled to write this review to relate the issues that I have observed during my son’s first birthday, at Chunky E. Cheese – Laredo, Texas.
My wife made a reservation for a birthday party at Chunky E. Cheese – Laredo, Texas. The party was scheduled on a Saturday at 2:00PM.
We arrived at the party around 1:45PM, and until 4:00PM I have noticed numerous deficiencies, here are the details: The personnel were too busy, we had to get the table covers and set the table ourselves.
Around 2:15PM, I was watching the prerecorded CEC show on the TV, and a scene where a band change faces at a very fast pace took my attention. Such scene which may cause an epileptic seizure, and before the CEC TV show started there was no warning about risk of epilepsy.
The most awful part of the party is when I had to take my son to the bathroom to change his diaper; I was upset to find that the changing table is located at the entrance of the bathroom. Every person getting to the bathroom had to squeeze behind me, and had a chance to look at my son’s private. Also I was disturbed by the smell of urine coming from the urinary that are just next to the changing table. It would have been more appropriate if the changing table was located inside the handicapped bathroom.
In South Texas most of the families have Mexican origins, and the piñata is a very important tradition on Mexican birthday party. We were surprised to hear from the host that there is liability issue; we cannot have the piñata set for the kids. I felt outraged! Chunky E. Cheese has spent millions of dollars to win business in South Texas, and yet is unable to accommodate a local tradition. The liability argument is extremely weak, since some of the rides and games inside Chunky E. Cheese present more hazard than a kid hitting a carton full of candy with a bat. I strongly believe that there should be a reserved for the piñata in that location to accommodate the local tradition.
The pricing was far away from what we expected, our initial budget was an estimated cost of $389.70 for 20 adult with 20 kids, but we ended up spending $675.18. I understand that everything has a price, but I would have appreciated it if there is some kind of ladder pricing model that would work both for the business and the customer.
I observed that there is at least three games that are out of service, one of them did not have a signage, and I ended up losing a coin on it. On a Saturday afternoon, were most of the people come to enjoy and spend money on the games, a wise business should make sure that everything is working properly, or it will lose its customers.
Last thing I would like to report is that the invisible ink on the parent’s hand is not working, and the person at the exit got into a situation where she has to let us leave, despite the fact that she was unable to see the ink on the hand of my wife. Being in boarder town, I’m deeply concerned that this would be a security issue, and a kid can be abducted from his family, and taken out of the country without having anyone noticing it.
Before we leave the party, I filled the survey that listed just few of what I mentioned above, and left it on the table. Later on, my wife received a call from the manager; he apologized and offered a free pizza on our next visit. I also wrote a letter to CEC corporate office's customer service and never received a response.
For the reasons mentioned above, I would not recommend This Chunky E. Cheese Location, and I personally will not consider having any party at any Chunky E....

Hello everyone, Laredo Rated here, giving you all the updates on restaurants and more! Today we are rating Chuck E. Cheese's in Laredo Texas!
So why do we rate 3 Stars? Well Chuck E. Cheese's has its pros and cons! Price Spent $80.00 So lets start out with why it is a okay place to go? Well, you wont lose your child if you go, reason being because once you enter with your child they put a stamp with numbers fixed for you and your kids, so no stranger will take off with your child! So that is good. All / Most of the games are 1 token, even though you can just buy 1 ticket for 1 penny (so if you buy the family pack (3) then you might want to hold your money because your going to spend about $20 in token and get about 500 tickets which is equaled to only $5.00. Pizza was very small for a family back, and sad to say for a big chained pizza place it had limited ingredients so if you are planning on throwing a party here? I might want to recommend somewhere else, since I suspect the party pack is probably way over the budget, you might as well go to pizza hut if your planning on spending thousands on a party. So the games? is it work the one token? well, a kid might be excited about 8cents worth of tickets? A parent would be shocked! :) My recommendation you might want to spend only $5 in coins then maybe just buy the toy. The food was very ... How can I say it "More Oily Then Tasty" :( ... So Lets move on, to when we left, Though the customer service was great when not in pressure (1-10 people max) Going on a field trip ? School Trip? You might want to turn that bus around and go somewhere way more prepared! The staff was limited, Were talking about maybe 3-5 employees for over 100 people so don't expect the service to perfect, because honestly it wont be good. When we left I asked for a pizza box to take the left overs (sadly be prepared) yep, no pizza boxes, more like a carry out plate which you will probably need a good 3 or 4 to get all your things and sadly be prepared to carry all these things because :( no big bags to put them in, as a parents you probably have a toddler and a baby so how is it possible to carry all your things? Nope. Soo... Buying the prize, yes you have to pay taxes for the tickets which is a better win then buying tokens! So overall I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that has a low tolerance in crowds or is simply angered by slow employees! So next to the rating, I was around over 3 schools and all the kids were excited because the T,Vs said Chuckie was coming out and to get everyone in front! and.... You guessed it HE DIDNT COME OUT!
So all in all I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE :) of course, unless you have a patience :)

Read moreRemodeled. Looks very nice. Many different games. Added a small jump area for little ones (probably 5 and under).
Ordered salad as well, not pictured. Salad bar had a nice variety. Order the pepperoni and a supreme. A little pricey, 20 bucks for the pepperoni 25 for the supreme. Both large. About standard large size but the extra cost is to be expected at a place like this. The pepperoni was fresh but the supreme was cold. I took it back and asked them to run it through the oven again. They did so. It came back a little more brown, but at least it was hot. Tasted good and got no complaints from the staff for reheating it.
They have a system now where you can either buy points to play the games or buy time. Still not sure which is better. 60 minutes cost $30. Unlimited plays on the games. In the end, two of these 60 minute cards and two large pizzas plus six drinks and a salad ran me about $150. The two pizzas took kind of long to get to us. Probably around 20 minutes. There were hardly any customers when we were there so I can't explain why it took so long or why the one supreme pizza was cold when we received it.
A comment about the trash can. The opening for the trash receptacle is not large enough for their plates to fit as you can see in the photo. Sure you can fold it and stuff it in there, but for convenience sake, a larger opening...
