The food was amazing as usual. I always look forward to coming here and enjoying the fish tacos, other delicacies and the large list of great beers. I would have given it 5 stars and not 4 if our service was not so horribly atrocious. I mean the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. Our waiter "Jose Ed" did not greet me for a few minutes and then came up and asked me why I wasn't smoking if I was sitting outside? I told him I was there for dinner and he gave me a bad look and I told him I wanted a beer. I asked him what kind they had and he told me "a lot" and then didn't want to go into detail when I asked what they had, so I told him to get me a list. We were ordering an appetizer and he started pointing at his watch telling me I had to order all at once because they were closing the kitchen, fair enough, but he didn't have to be such an unprofessional child about it. He was never around for me to order another beer, so I asked for one when he brought my food and he told me they had done last call a long time ago. I asked him why he didn't tell me or ask if I wanted another when he noticed I finished my first one and he said "I told you we were finishing up when I told you you needed to order all your food at once." I told him he implied the kitchen was closing and said nothing about drinks, so he started trying to argue with me, of course I dismissed him because he was starting to anger me. Didn't offer to bring a glass of water or something else to drink and so we ate our food without anything to drink. Pretty unfortunate considering the food was so delicious and I couldn't even get a glass of water to go with it. Of course when we were finishing up he started trying to rush us out, he tried to take my friends plate and I told him to leave it because I wanted his last wing. He looked at me and said "really!?" and gave me this look like "no, I'm taking the plate, time for you to go." I highly recommend this restaurant for it's amazing atmosphere, delicious food and great drink selection. However, if you are stuck with Jose Ed as your waiter, I highly recommend that you request someone else or go eat somewhere else if you can't get anyone else to wait on you. He is that bad, he ruins the experience and is the kind of guy that is the first one replaced by a machine at a McDonalds. Once they get rid of him it will be a five...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is one of the best local restaurants (in my opinion) for food, atmosphere and drinks. I went this weekend with a party of 8, we waited for an hour before getting a table; the entire time we waited, there was a couple sitting at a table large enough to fit my party. That table, with the couple, was not ordering food or drinks. It seemed as if they had already closed out their tab since the waiters/waitresses were no longer tending the table. There was a table right next to theirs that had a party of 8. On a business point, a party of 8, that is ordering food and drinks at what seems at an unstoppable rate is making the business a ton of money compared to the large table of two who is ordering nothing. I asked the management a few times to ask the couple to move to a smaller table to get the larger parties taken care of (my party was not the only one waiting). It was more like the couple was camping out at the table so whoever was to join them later won't have to wait; unfair but apparently management was OK with it. It's an awkward thing to have to move people to a smaller table, but in a restaurant as popular as El Capataz, there should be some rules and guidelines set to be followed. I'd normally rate this restaurant 5 star, it really is an amazing place, but the management seems to be a little inactive on resolving...

I stopped by El Capataz and decided to try the Peruvian Roasted Chicken with fries and white beans, along with a margarita. Hereās the breakdown: ⢠Fries š: Totally disappointingāsoft, lacking crispiness, and unremarkable. ⢠Chicken š: Just okay. Definitely not what Iād expect from Peruvian roasted chickenāmissing that signature spice and depth of flavor. ⢠White Beans š«: Standard, nothing special. They were cooked fine, but they didnāt stand out. ⢠Margarita š¹: Absolutely fantastic! The perfect balance of tart and sweet with just the right kick. ⢠Service š: Excellent! The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience much better.
Overall, while the food was hit-or-miss, the great service and killer margarita made up for it. Would I come back? Maybeāfor drinks, but not for the...
