This was my first layover here in Loredo. I decided after checking into my hotel to explore the area for some good food and shopping. This restaurant luckily was right outside my hotel doors. Upon opening the door to the restraunt, there was a female employee wiping and sanitizing the food menus. I asked to take a peek at one while I decided to stay and dine or continue exploring. The first thing I saw was the mangorita, then the Mexican style shrimp meatball soup caught my attention. After looking over the menu w/ a little Spanish translator app, I was able to ask questions about some food and drink items that were on the menu. The nice gentleman waiter and female employee cleaning the menus were very accommodating, understanding, and patient w/ me. Immediately after I decided to try out this restaurant, I was then escorted to a booth in the dining area. The restaurant had so much character. Was very large, open, welcoming, and definitely represented the Mexican culture in such an upscale way. Upon being seated, another waiter came up to introduce himself and asked me my drink order. I ordered a mangorita. Within jus a couple minutes I was brought some fresh fried tortillas, as well as tortilla chips w/ assortment of dips, refried beans, fresh pico de gallo, avocado sauce and some fresh halfed limes w/ a hand held citrus extractor. Shortly after that, my drink was dropped off and looked yummy. For my meal, I ordered the albondigas de camaron (aka shrimp meatball soup). The soup was very filling and full of flavor, which was so delicious. I definitely recommend stopping by and dining at this restaurant. Can't wait to visit here again and try other...
Read moreAghhh - SMH - Locations differ more than I would of thought - mostly in the same town of Laredo. Was in town a few weeks ago for about two weeks working in Laredo - worker and I tried the one on IH35 (Laredo) - fantastic. From start to finish, was great. I bragged about how good everything was from the service to the food.
This location at 7220 Bob Bullock Loop 20. #1 - server was short/curt. Seemed I was more of a problem seating alone. #2 - tortillas that come with red sauce - burnt. #3 - had the Mar y Tierra Classic - again the flour tortillas burnt. Steak was half the size of the location at IH35 (Laredo). She didn’t ask how to cook the meat - we’ll overcooked not good. Server again very short/curt. #4 - I laid the burnt (hard) tortillas that come with the chips/salsa on the table she took them - didn’t bring me back anymore. #5 - the dinner didn’t feel me up - not that much good food to eat.
I’ve ordered the tres leches cake to go - hopefully will be good.
I drove from Junction Texas to Laredo to perform more work for the city - I will return to the south side for the Palenque Grill. Was excited to get to eat the food - location was very disappointing. Now a little nervous to try other locations.
I will not be returning to this location.
Little info I arrived just before 8:00 pm on the 16th of March and sat next to the front entrance in the corner. This location closes at 9:00. A party of five came in at 8:40 and restaurant was about 40% full. The reason I say this is because I don’t want anyone to think I came in right before closing. Meal was $61.00 -...

I had high hopes for Palenque Grill, but my experience was a complete disappointment. The service was terrible—despite it being 2 PM with only a few other customers, the waitstaff just stood around the bar, completely ignoring me. I couldn’t get a refill or even pay my bill without practically begging for attention.
As for the food? Mediocre at best. The chips and all three salsas were awful. I ordered the pineapple Al Pastor tacos on flour tortillas, but the tortillas tasted like corn (which was weird), and the meat was tough and dry. The only saving grace was the onions and pineapples, which at least added some sweetness to an otherwise disappointing dish.
Now, let’s talk about the margarita disaster. Laredo is known for its strong margaritas, but this place served up the sugariest, weakest margarita I’ve had all week. It was so bad that I walked next door to the liquor store and just bought a pint of tequila instead… because I refused to let that drink be my last margarita in Laredo. 🤦🏾♀️
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Palenque Grill. With bad service, lackluster food, and the worst margarita in town, I’ll definitely be taking my appetite (and my tequila money) elsewhere...
