Starbucks — Restaurant in Largo

We came here with my family to order 4 Frappuccino’s, one of them to have an extra shot. The cashier (Berto on his name tag) took our order and we proceeded to wait for our drinks. We got our 3 drinks and assumed we were waiting on the 4th one which was a double shot. When we got it we noticed it looked the same and did not have written on it that it had an extra shot so we went up to Berto to confirm. He said it was a single shot because that’s what we ordered. We explained that we wanted it to have a double shot and he said he will make us another shot. We assumed the baristas would fix the drink but they just gave us a cup with a single shot of hot espresso. When I went up to the barista to ask her what I should do with that, she said just to pour it over the Frappuccino. I said it would spill out and she says, “yes”. This was really disappointing as we weren’t being rude or even upset we just wanted the drink that we ordered. Finally Berto at the counter exclaimed from across the room that that’s an affogato, and when I said that’s not what we ordered he said they would make us another drink with a double shot. I stopped by the Starbucks in Clearwater, Florida, on one of their busiest days—the launch of the pumpkin spice latte—and was absolutely blown away by the speed of service! Despite the huge rush, the service was incredibly fast and efficient. The baristas were on top of their game, handling the long lines with ease, and I had my dirty chai/PSL in hand much quicker than I expected. Even with all the hustle and bustle, they managed to keep everything organized, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.

What really stood out to me was the new design of the building—it’s stunning! The modern architecture gives the place a fresh, clean, and inviting vibe. The layout inside feels spacious, and the seating is comfortable, but what really takes it up a notch is the epic covered patio space. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy your coffee outdoors, shaded from the Florida sun. The patio adds an extra layer of relaxation to the experience, and I can easily see myself coming back just to hang out there.

The espresso machines are filthy - you can smell how burnt and caked the machines are in the line. Just like every other Starbucks, the staff is barely of age and too underpaid to care, but they tried to make it right. Very friendly. I told her it's not her fault for burning it, it's just the machine that's gross. I make my own espresso at home in a moka pot normally and today was supposed to be a Friday treat - but I am once again reminded that inflation and an increasingly demoralized workforce will disappoint most consumers when they're brave enough to spend on service again. The worker did her best to make it right, and very grateful for her. The store moves quickly which is great but whomever is responsible for cleaning equipment is SLACKING!
