I really wanted to love this place for much longer then I should have. The atmosphere seemed lovely, the employees seemed nice, and the food was not bad. But I ended up having an extremely severe allergy because of it though and they did nothing to assist. To start, my husband and I were trying a bunch of new places every Saturday morning leading up to our wedding as a bonding thing and to also just breath. This was one of the last new places we tried last year. We double checked to make sure that none of my food had peas or cashews because I do have a mild allergy and it upsets my stomach but nothing end of the world and it seemed like it should be good. I've had a smaller allergy panel that confirms this. However, after a couple of hours I broke out in an extremely severe allergy with hives inside and out all over my body. This has never in my 30+ years of life happened to me, I've tried so many unique and crazy foods and the most was just mild stomach upset. I couldn't see out of one of my eyes, I couldn't hear out of one of my ears, the itching hurt so bad and there was no way to get comfortable, and breathing was insanely difficult. It was one of the most terrifying things I've ever been through in my life. I ended up at the hospital because of this, I had to get steroid shots and a bunch of typical creams and pills to save me. For days I felt so uncomfortable and having something so scary happen to you changes how you live your life. The marks were on my bodies for two weeks. I don't try new food or places anymore because I'm so terrified of it happening again. Despite all of it though we tried to be understanding, at the end of the day we just wanted to know what caused it. My husband called and tried his best to kindly explain the situation. Explain that we could not afford the more in depth allergy panels right now because we were saving for our wedding, we explained we were not mad, we just wanted to know what was in the food so that I could know to avoid it for now till we could afford to find out what to do. At first they were very apologetic, they did offer to refund us (we declined, again we just wanted to know how to prevent it. In our eyes getting that money back was not going to prevent this from happening in the future. ) They said the completely understood and would get back to us right away. Then they just stopped responding, my husband tried calling and emailing for weeks and they were radio silent. It's been months now and they just continue to run their business as if they didn't almost kill someone. Thankfully I am ok, we've just gotten married and we are going to start saving to go through all the testing to try to figure out what happened but they could have alleviated so much stress had they just gotten back to us. I understand that running a business is tough but if you hurt someone you should still want to help them, you should still care. My doctor does believe based on everything that it may have been the blueberry matcha but we got a lot from them so it's hard to know for sure. One of the things that the small allergy panel listed as an allergy was cockroaches and as I've never intentionally ingested one we are not positive how my body would react to it so I sometimes wonder if something like that was what happened and that's why they refused to help us after looking into things. It's hard to say for sure we're forced to fill in the blanks ourselves but please if you have any food allergies do not come here, what I went through has scarred me permanently and I don't want anyone else to go through that. Going to a little hole in the wall cafe is not...
Read moreHaving supported David Mozes’ and Chef Peter’s Bronze Café at The Center, The Market and Juice Stars, it was to #supportlocal that lunch was catered from their North Buffalo location on Wednesday, a collection of old favorites arriving on time with plenty of plates and utensils that allowed staff to enjoy every second of their lunch hour.
Located near Desert Shores in Summerlin, the former home of Beau Monde Bakery providing turnkey access for a Restaurant offering Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, it is focused on health-conscious and diet-friendly fare that many guests began with Vegetables or Salad including “David’s Special” that remains popular thanks to Quinoa, Garbanzos, Hemp and Avocado that compliment thinly sliced Kale.
Continuing with “Sammiches,” both California Turkey and “The What What” receiving praise from those fortunate enough to snag a half, it was a bit more slowly that the double-Bacon LGBTQ and “Basil Chicken Salad” disappeared, though these remain personal favorites.
Happy to receive a glut of Desserts, all Vegan, those missing Beau Monde’s gluten-free offerings will be happy to know both the newly added Caramel Pecan Brownie and Pistachio Rose Zucchini Matcha Cake are made without any Wheat protein, as too is a fully loaded Carrot Cake that only gets more delicious with time.
Continuing strong with the cleverly titled Loving v Virginia, a Brookie that sees both halves nicely textured, Chai Spice and Rocky Road Cookies are soft and almost Cake-like while those seeking something new should consider the Vegan Danishes or delectable Blue Raspberry Lemonade Cookie.
Not forgetting a Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle, still Vegas’ best Cookie, Peter’s Cranberry Almond Muffin outpaces the already excellent Blueberry and Triple Chocolate versions while an update to the Jalapeno-Cheddar and Raspberry Scone sees both...
Read moreThis is at least the 5th time my severe onion allergy has been overlooked. As a vegan, I love having BC and its options close by but how do you miss this noted on the order 3 times? My original delivery order was given to the wrong person so my driver alerted me that the order was being remade. Not a huge issue (sorry for the other person who got an incorrect order). While I appreciated sauces on the side as requested and the aioli having a note on the bag saying it contained red onion so I could discard it, my sandwich had red onions in it. :( I put half on a paper plate to have my SO open with a fork to inspect first- thankfully I did, as you can see from the photos it contains onions. This is a serious allergy that again, I noted on the order multiple times, and can send me to the ER with anaphylaxis. As a food place, allergies noted need to be taken very seriously. I can’t even eat what I ordered, the whole reason I placed an order. This has also happened while eating IN the cafe on 2 occasions + multiple times for delivery orders. Super bummed, as the food I have been able to eat has been good. Refer to photos to see just what was on half the sandwich, which my SO had to inspect for me. This was part of a $36 order before delivery...
