Pops Pride of Philly Cheesesteak is an absolute gem tucked away in the bustling city of Las Vegas. As a lover of Philly cheesesteaks, stumbling upon this 24-hour haven on the strip was a delightful surprise. The moment I entered, I was captivated by the inviting atmosphere and greeted by a staff that was not only friendly but also incredibly helpful.
I opted for the classic Philly cheesesteak with everything on it, along with a side of chili cheese fries and fried green beans. Let me just say, this meal was a game-changer. The meat in the cheesesteak was tender, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfection. Surprisingly, I didn't feel the need to add my usual hot sauce or mayo; it was that delicious on its own. I went for provolone cheese instead of the traditional cheese whiz this time, but I'm definitely trying both on my next visit because I can only imagine how incredible that combination would be.
Now, let's talk about those chili cheese fries. They were nothing short of amazing. The chili had a rich, savory flavor that complemented the crispy fries perfectly. In fact, I loved the chili so much that I ended up dipping my Philly cheesesteak in it, creating a mouthwatering fusion of flavors that left me craving for more.
My only regret is not discovering Pops Pride of Philly sooner during my Vegas trip. If I had known about it earlier, I would have undoubtedly visited multiple times before leaving. It's safe to say that this will be the first place I visit when I return to Vegas. Forget about the overhyped Strip food; Pops Pride of Philly is where you'll find true satisfaction and flavor-packed goodness. Highly recommended for anyone craving an authentic and memorable Philly...
Read moreI was looking forward to eating here as it's one of the only actual cheese steak spots in Vegas . I was pumped and ready to eat what I thought would be a killer cheese steak. I ordered 2 cheese steaks and 2 bottled cokes . I wanted cheese wiz for both . As I come to pay , the total was $45!!!??? I hesitated at first but was thinking, "well it might be worth it since it's a specialty spot".. The cheese steak was basic AF!!! They forgot to cut mine in half so I had to take it back for them to cut it. As she cut it, she held my cheese steak in front of me and started handling another person's change above my open cheese steak . That transaction took about 5 min extra as she kept getting change for the person as I've already got my food. The taste is nothing special at all, NO marinated steak, no option for spice or hot sauce, very salty, soggy bread , and very little vegetables in for a hoagie. They charged me an extra $2.50 for both sandwiches for "extra cheese" . Forget getting fries or any side! They charge about $6 + for any side and it's a small box tray. My bottled cokes that I paid $3.50 for were also warm . Any additional toppings you might want range from $3 !? This is absolutely a rip off tourist trap in a ghetto neighborhood. I can name over a dozen places that taste better and are reasonably priced . Almost $50 for two cheese steaks and sodas!!!? I was ultimately disappointed and don't even care to eat the rest of my left over . At least they are decently sized but still, Don't waste your time and...
Read moreI saw this cute and busy triangle shaped restaurant I decided to give it a try.
Food: The food itself is average, not so impressive. There is plenty of various combination options, sandwiches, with sides like Mac n Cheese bites, fries, onion rings, and a vegetarian option.
Secret Menu* Cheese Whiz Madness Any of delicious cheesesteaks in a to-go container smothered in cheese whiz from top to bottom. (Be sure to ask for a fork, knife and plenty of extra napkins)
Space: Old school drive through vibe stand-alone building. There is only an outdoor eating area with 3-4 tables on the corner of a big roads so it can be noisy and doesn't feel clean (air quality, etc). Most customers seemed to have their food to-go.
Price: Unexpectedly more expensive side for a mom & pop restaurant when considering no waiting staff and indoor eating space.
Service: Everything was fast and smooth
Location: it is on the corner of Alta and Decatur, about 15 min drive from the Strip
ETC: Open 24 hours. 30% off for Military and Emergency service customers (police officer, firefighter, paramedic, etc.) They sell like 2,000 cheesesteaks/week! (per their website) Not many parking spots No drive through No bathrooms or wash stand
[Will I go back?] I think going there is as an unique experience: A busy, mom & pop vibe, cute triangle shaped building, convenient location, Philly steak specialty with so many different variations Looks always busy As a Vegas local, I might go back to try...
