UPDATE: I returned for yet another fantastic experience at Saffron on 27 Jun 2025. Although I didn't get to experience the newly-remodeled bar area called, "Mission Control," I got to walk around it and boy, the owners did a remarkable job! My wife and I ordered the Lamb Kadai Curry, Chicken Rogan Josh, Lamb Samosa, Garlic Naan, Mixed Vegetable Salad, Tandoori Wings, and Frankie Naan. Everything was prepared with high quality - I had zero issues or complaints. Our server, Carolyn, did an outstanding job as well. I am still highly recommending this restaurant to everyone! Also added updated photos to this review. I remember trying this place for the first time back in 21 Aug 2015, and since that visit, I've never had the opportunity to revisit this restaurant again, but have been wanting to for quite some time. After eight years, my wife and I finally returned to this restaurant on 22 Oct 2023 and am glad that we did. When we walked in, I noticed that the restaurant was partially under construction (mainly the bar area). I had the opportunity to talk to one of the staff members and was informed that the project should be completed soon. I'm definitely returning when the project is complete so I can see the finished product and enjoy this restaurant's food again. Speaking of the food...
We ended up ordering the Tandoori Wings, Garlic Naan, Mixed Saffron Platter, and Kadai Curry w/Chicken. Although I can't remember what we ordered during our 2015 visit, I can assure you that I have not experienced any poor quality food here (hence our return to this exceptional restaurant). We normally order spice level five for everything and I feel that it is a perfect heat level since I've noticed that as I got older, my body doesn't agree with really spicy food. The flavor profile of their curry is so remarkable and leaves you wanting more and more until you're stuffed.
The service was extraordinary! Our server (I think her name is Marina), and other employees in the restaurant that were assisting with bringing the food out and removing dirty dishes from our table, were very friendly and attentive. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was superb and I really enjoy how this restaurant supports the men and women of the Armed Forces to include its Veterans - it's much appreciated! If you haven't been to this restaurant, you really need to take the time to swing by. I highly recommend this place...
Read moreFigured we would try a new restaurant in the area and decided to give Saffron a shot based on the reviews. Used their website to order takeout - Beef Curry, Chicken Noodles, and Spring Rolls. Shortly after placing my order I called to confirm with the young man who answered the phone. Asked him about spice levels and he said they would make sure to include some extra spicy chutney on the side since my wife and I like different levels. Showed up for pickup 20 min later and manager called me while in parking lot. Said they no longer serve ANY beef curry (not out, just no longer serve it) and the website is not updated. He offered lamb and I explained to him my wife doesn't like lamb. We agreed on half the order lamb and half the order chicken. Picked up, arrived home, and its lamb and chicken mixed in the same curry... I guess we are supposed to pick the meats out and sort them for ourselves individually after you already accepted my order and I paid for it online!? I called and asked the manager why he couldn't split the portion in two I had agreed to on the phone, and he said "we can't do that because it's extra LABOR costs!!" LOLOL.... Wow.... REALLY?!?! On TOP of that, there was no side of rice which is supposed to come with the curry per the person taking orders, and NO spiced chutney as I had requested....
On to the quality/flavor of the food we did recieve - The Naan was the highlight, the Curry was flavorless, and the chicken noodles were ABSOLUTELY INEDIBLE.... No Kidding... I was at least hoping that the food would be worth the hassle.... I can only assume that somthing has had to happen to the cook(s) or freshness of ingredients since these positive reviews here (and I notice most are for several months back). Total Fail in regards to customer service, half the order was completely inedible (no kidding here, it was actually terrible and couldn't be eaten, not trying to be a jerk), incomplete menu (no beef, huh?), and a complete lack of professional management....
No wonder when I walked in on a Sat night the place was a ghost town. Too many other QUALITY Indian restaurants in town, this manager needs to go, and if he's the owner - Good Luck...
Read moreBeware Indians and others from this pathetic so-called fine dining. I am not sure how this place got more than 4.8 ratings. Either people eating here don't know what is Real Indian Food or maybe they served differently.
Here is my review from my recent visit
No one bothered about our presence, not even Hello or Welcome, understood fine maybe that is their way. But found later that we are being Indian they did not bother to do so.
We asked for water no Ice, they got water with Ice and for kids in a small cup with nearly a 1-foot long straw, my kids literally choked the straw and we need to give them our cups for water.
We ordered Samosas and while bringing the waiter spilled the Chattanis (condiments) and asked us to wait to bring new condiments. We waited and our Samosas got cold and they got it almost after 10 minutes. Samosas were okay in taste, I would give 6 out of 10 for it.
We ordered Paneer Butter Masala mentioned for medium spicy. To our surprise, they got form plates for my kids and forgot Rice. I was shocked because on other table kids were given plates. I think the owner should know that Indian food is Hot and form plates are not the best way to serve food. I think again we felt being Indian they are doing it. We told them about Rice is missing, with a rude face waiters went in and got rice. Again a surprise, everyone else was being served rice in Copper Bown and for us, they got in Still bowl. About quality, food was extremely spicy and sour, we felt that it cooked from ready to eat packages by adding some dry chili powder.
I saw a girl serving at their Bar was eating while preparing drinks, this is absolutely not welcomed.
Lesson Learned To Non-Indian Food lovers if you just want to eat Indian food and save money then go to any grocery stores and get some frozen or ready to eat Indian Curries.
To Indian Food lovers, if you don't want to feel racist in Indian owned Indian restaurant then avoid this place or later regrate your self going there.
For all who read negative reviews and still going there, I can't help.
