I used the Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, (Craig Rd. location) recently, to cater my husband’s celebration of life/memorial service, a gathering of about 96 people.
This was a bit of a risk, as I knew nothing of this restaurant. I’d not eaten there, nor had I heard anything about the place.
But I’d decided that I wanted Greek/Mediterranean fare; not only is it delicious, but I felt like it offers adequate variety to satisfy a wide range of palettes and tastes.
Initially, I looked at some of the places that I did know: places that I had frequented, in come cases, many times over the years.
But in each case, something about their menu, website design, prices, or, if I got that far—my interaction with the owner, manager, or other contact person with whom I spoke—did not impress me. I found myself going back to the drawing board.
“Greek food catering near me”, or whatever I googled, promptly led me to the restaurant’s website, and I liked what I saw.
Options and prices were clearly conveyed, and the variety was there. Also, there was contact info, so I emailed to inquire.
I was in the early stages then, & didn’t have all the details or even an approx. head count.
Shana replied promptly. From day one, she was upbeat, warm, friendly, receptive, professional, and maybe most importantly, helpful!
But at first contact, I hadn’t made any final decisions yet. Shana struck that fine line between being solicitous, welcoming, and appreciative of my business, or hypothetical business, but never with even a hint of pressure.
She was good-natured, gracious, and available—something, that as a 27-year resident of this town, I don’t take for granted.
There wasn’t much contact for some weeks after our initial exchange—until the date had drawn near.
I emailed Shana to touch base & confirm the details, including the approx. head count. Then, she helped me finalize the menu, guiding & advising me, and suggesting items and quantities based on what I had shared which was my basic thoughts and ideas.
The event went off without a hitch: at least, the food part did! Shana and her team personally delivered the feast. The order was delivered exactly as ordered, right on time.
The hot items were hot and the cold items were cold.
The food was exceptional. People were raving, asking me who I’d used.
In fact, I have an uncle who is Lebanese, and therefore has a very discriminating palette where Mediterranean food is concerned. He said the hummus was among the best he’s ever had!
Last but not least, the Greek smorgasbord didn’t break the bank. I’m not saying it was cheap, but you get what you pay for, and this spread was quality: it was fresh and it was flavorful. What more could you ask for?
The thing is that when I get take-out out, I seldom feel that the value of my culinary experience matches the expense: I usually feel ripped off.
On this night, there was none of that. I was delighted.
So was my rather finicky, discriminating, extended family: so tickled had been their taste buds at the service—that, still in town 3 days later, they ordered take out for dinner, from the same (Craig...
Read moreGreat food here!! You have to try the Baklava ice cream if you come here. The tzatziki sauce was was excellent. We had gyros with the traditional gyro meat, and I have to say that these are the best I've had. Of course one has to have baklava for dessert but was pleasantly surprised by something that I didn't even know existed until having it here. Baklava ice cream folks! If you've never had if before but like Baklava, who doesn't like Baklava? You have to go there and at least try this!! The flaky pastry with walnuts and honey dessert you love hugged in ice cream. How else better to say it then that. Only negative about our experience that day was when we tried to call ahead and have our menu items prepared while we commute there, Charlie who answered the phone and hung up on us twice, not only lied to us about how many times we called stating, "One person called but we couldn't hear anything," had a particularly poor attitude towards us afterwards. We had not made a complaint but had only inquired as to if they were taking phone calls for pick up orders I did state that we were hung up on twice (we used two different phones thinking they may not have heard us due to service provider failures in performance) and surprised at how quickly and defensively Charlie retorted his defense. Like as if he had encountered such a situation before. Makes you wonder how many other customers this place has lost due to those type of actions from employees. As if the long wasn't impressive enough, this employees attitude towars us digressed to a very apathetic toSing of our bag containing our order in our general direction and even stood with his back to us making negative comments that he thought we couldn't hear and gesturing with his thumb over his shoulder at us. Not very professional...
Read moreFour dip combo is fantastic and the size is amazing, the Greek salad wrap is humungous and delicious, and now let’s go to the “great Greek gyro sandwich, I asked for 2 and while I was eating the first one I started to notice it’s a lack of lettuce and tomato and onion but had a lot of meat. While I was eating my second one I stopped half way and opened my gyro sandwich. It had only 4 tiny peace of onion and lettuce and a few sad tomato slices. Approached the counter the manager lady or who she is and the manager blue shirt man not even turned around even when the kitchen staff told them to turn around. Finally the blue shirt man who is chewing gum finally looked at me , I said this is my gyro sandwich and this doesn’t even look like as in the picture , while he looked at it grabbed it from my hand and tossed it to the trash , while he said “ you eat half and now you want another “ I said I don’t need a new one and didn’t understand why he tossed my food away to the trash. I don’t wanted another one and I stated that. He was still trying to make another one, I said repeatedly I don’t want , thank you. Without any apology or saying anything only chewing his gum turned away, I said ok went back to my table and finished my leftover dip. This man is utterly unprofessional and rude! He needs to learn manners if he runs a business. Your food is good but your gyro is cheap and nasty and empty. Hope who ever this man is will have a proper training how to handle customers and complaint , because he really don’t care about his work and how he...
