Overall per my experience I will not be going back until maybe, just maybe after this pandemic is over.
Taking into consideration how our covid cases are increasing, I can see how it can be due to inconsiderate places like this. So let me share my experience & I'm well aware that not everyone experiences the same thing but here's what I observed.
I called in advanced and requested to make reservations. I was informed that it was walk in only. This was odd to me, but whatever. Me and my husband made the decision to take the risk.
We arrived around 2pm on a Friday and sure enough the place was pretty full. The place is small and the tables looked close together still. My husband looked at me and we decided, mehh lets take the risk. We were then sat by a table right by the entrance. So if anyone came in to pick up food, or dine in they were standing literally right by us. This annoyed me to the core, but we were there so I said whatever I'll put it past me.
They gave us menus, I doubt they were sanitized. I've been to other dine in locations and they no longer have the condiments out on the tables which makes sense, but not Sushi Bomb. You get to touch the same soy sauce bottles that all of the people before you have touched/grabbed. This was concerning to me. I did not touch it and used a napkin when grabbing it.
We ordered a few appetizers, nigiri, and some rolls. The appetizers were diffirent/interesting but good in taste. Oh except The salads those were gross. The plating/presentation was always nice but the plating is not enough to blow my socks away. The nigiri was decent. The fish did taste fresh and they don't use much rice. The rolls were indeed the best out of the whole experience. So if I were to rate this experience on the rolls and only the rolls it would be a 5 star rating, but nope this rating is on my whole experience over all.
While dining there I did observe how they "sanitized" the table for the next guests to sit there and this is the reason why as soon as we left I practically bathed myself in sanitizer and won't be back until this pandemic is over. So let me start with what happens when a guest leaves. They grab a rag that is on the side and wipe only the table off. They do make sure that there is nothing on the table but they do not clean the rag, and it does not look like there is any sanitation products used. While wipping the table down they do not sanitize the soy sauce bottles, the move those to the side while cleaning just the table, and this place is consistently busy so shortly after the wipe down the next guess its sat at that table. When compared to other establishments I'm not confident that this location does not care about their guests but their employees.
The employees are friendly and they do wear masks. They did forget a few things that we ordered and my husband did have to ask for water instead of the server being proactive. But in my opinion the service was ok, more on the positive side. You are required to use a mask as you walk in and until you are seated but I did notice a few customers coughing and covered their mouths with their hands and continued to eat, touch the table, the chairs and the soy sauce bottles. I'm sure some may laugh because of my obsession on how dirty these soy sauce bottles could be but seriously its sad to see the carelessness. So I am taking my precautions and will be getting tested in a few days just to make sure while social distancing just in case because this was living a little too much on the...
Read moreFood has always been top-tier, but the service at Sushi Bomb has been steadily going downhill the last few months. I go about once a week, and it's pretty reliable in good ways and bad ways - I know I'm gonna eat delicious food but I know the waiters are going to be confused and weirdly aggressive every time. It sucks because of how good the food is.
Today, though, they lost my pickup order. Like completely lost it. I was told by someone from FOH to wait until my food was done, and waited for nearly an hour outside, before I popped back inside to check again. They asked for my name and order number, and went to check, and sent another staff member (I'm assuming a middle manager or shift lead? Idk, some dude in a baseball hat.) to tell me that not only had they given my food to someone else, but that they were not responsible for it at all. This, he mentioned, is company policy. I asked if they could make my food again, considering it was their mistake, and he blamed it on GrubHub and took no responsibility whatsoever. To make it worse, the FOH staff was really glaring at me like I was the cause of the problem? Strange.
After being assured there's was nothing they could do, he did the Very Cool Thing of just looking at me without saying anything when I asked again if there was anything he can do. Silent treatment might work on animals and babies, but it has straight up no place in management. Really immature way to handle the situation and I hope this employee learns sooner rather than later that all that does is make a situation more adversarial. Really poor.
I got my money back from GrubHub. I'm now getting food from a place that is further away, but better priced and with better service. Not hard to beat Sushi Bomb, though - the bar is on the floor.
Avoid this place...
Read moreThe first time we ever tried this restaurant was fantastic- fast service and good food on a busy friday night. Recently we visited on a sunday night and the service was terrible. Although there were hardly any other customers we were ignored for practically the entire duration of our stay. Our first appetizer order never came, after 15 minutes we had to flag a waitress down, then it took an additional 10 minutes. We only managed to place 3 orders within our time slot- 3 waitstaff clocked in, walking around, and ignoring us while standing around in a circle talking to the chefs. When they sat a huge party of 6 next to us they recieved their appetizers within 5 or 10 minutes, and they had food coming out of the kitchen for them every 5 minutes but wouldnt even ask us if we wanted to order anything with a very empty table. Not to mention another table of two that was sat 45 minutes after us recieved appetizers and two huge plates of main orders very quickly, so how can you ignore the people sitting in the middle of both these tables full of food while ours had nothing? We were sitting right in the dead center of the floor for everyone to see, how you can balantantly disregard customers I have no idea. When we finally did manage to wave staff down to order they forgot several dishes that we had to keep asking for. I dont know if everyone was having a bad day or what but it gets to a point where service is just unacceptable. I no longer reccomend this place to friends and family; they will only serve you well if you're a loud table or its a busy night. No tip and no shame- if they hadn't ignored us for the full 90 minutes it mightve been different. Save yourself the...
