We are avid sushi lovers and frequent patrons of Sushi Bomb. This time, we decided to revisit an old favorite, Sushi Mon, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The food quality was so poor that we had to request our check before finishing the meal. We didn’t ask for a refund, simply the bill. When the staff asked if everything was okay, we explained that the food quality was subpar. To our surprise, we were charged a $10 leftover fee, which added to the overall disappointment.
Food Review: The fish was unpleasantly mealy and tangy—though not from sauces or soy sauce. We ordered two rolls (including the Ultimate Shrimp Roll and Arizona Yellowtail Roll) and several pieces of nigiri (Ono/white tuna, yellowtail, snapper, Cajun albacore, and mackerel). The snapper had an earthy, dirt-like taste, and the yellowtail and white fish were overly tangy, bitter, and mealy in texture. The mackerel was passable at best.
While the tuna poke sauce was decent, the fish itself was overly fishy and filled with unappealing, chewy white strands. On top of this, each piece of nigiri was overwhelmed by overly firm, al dente rice that was difficult to eat. The rolls also suffered from the same issue with the rice, making them equally unappetizing.
We ultimately couldn’t finish the meal because the quality was simply not acceptable. While we understand that Sushi Mon has a loyal following, if you’re accustomed to high-quality sushi, I would strongly recommend choosing another establishment.
The staff did come back to ask how things were, and we did say they were good until we realized the food was not worth eating. The staff was very friendly, which made this a hard...

I have been coming in with friends and family from out of town as well as recommending Sushi Mon. I was planning on having my food writer from New York who writes for a Vegas locals and a Vegas travel site, come in to eat. Not now. I would have been embarrassed. The fact that you can't have refills on soda now is terrible. Then to charge $1.75 per can? Come on. Let's talk about your new staff. The sushi chefs were mediocre. Hardly any uniform. On some rolls it looked like they forgot pieces so they had to cut 6 pieces and then slapped on 2 more. The Mahalo roll was ridiculous. It's normally like little bite size spam masubi. Nope tonight it looked like a massive piece of sausage that was so thick it was gross. The male server tonight (11/4/18 7pm-8pm) was terrible. No order in the restaurant anymore. At the end if the meal he tried to fill my cup, yet during the meal couldn't be bothered with a refill. Making the red haired waitress fix his mistakes.
I live in Pahrump due to my job and have to come in for work duties. This was a special trip made. I was so upset that I went to treat a friend here tonight and got this mishmash of quality. 62 miles I drive just to get to town, then picked her up from Nellis and Tropicana. We don't go to the other sushi mon because the last two times we never got waited on! We waited 25 mins each time for drinks to be brought and then said nope let's go.
I normally don't go on and on but this was too much for what I...
Read moreNEVER GO TO THIS PLACE! Theres lots of sushi places in town to choose from, not worth being treated bad. I had a party of 13 with me and we were all present and there is a sign on the door that says 80% of your party must be present before being seated. There was a section for us to be seated but there was a party of 2 waiting on 3 more, that was hindering us to sit as a family. I asked them to have those 2 to get up and wait but they refused, I asked for a manager but no manager present. Now we were forced to sit at the bar, now I couldn't talk to my cousins on the otherside. It was supposed to be a wonderful family outing which turned horrible as we couldn't catch up with each other and couldn't communicate. At The end of the dinner, they were 3 extra rolls because we all couldn't communicate of who is ordering what and our servers couldn't tell us what was coming. So the server decided to charge us for the extra rolls. I asked them that why you made an exception for them breaking the rules but not us? I've been coming to this place for years and I'm always bringing 10-16 party with me. If not a large party, it's just my family of 3 or 4 and we eat there 2-3 times a month. I'm always in good hands with Ulyiss as be is always making sure our drinks are full and empty plates gets removed. But with this experience, never again and now I'm aware of all these social media review, I'm making sure non of my friends or family gets treated that way. I even had the server agree that I had all my party preset but sat a different party that WAS NOT...
