I landed in Vegas earlier today and was filling my wife in on all the things I planned to eat while in town. She asked, “Are you going to swing by Nothing Bundt Cakes?” I shot back, “Are you trying to make me fat again?” LOL. The thought faded as the day filled with errands. But fate — or maybe my subconscious — had other plans. One turn led to another and suddenly I found myself on Sahara Ave. And there it was. The familiar sign. At that point, how I got there didn’t matter. What mattered was the mission: Small Lemon Bundt Cake, please!
My first exposure to this chain was years ago in the Bay Area, thanks to a friend. Ever since, their cakes have been remarkably consistent — always moist, always delicious.
Here’s something you might not know: Nothing Bundt Cakes was founded in 1997 by two women right here in Las Vegas, working out of their home kitchens. From those humble beginnings, it’s grown into a nationwide favorite, known for its handcrafted cakes and signature cream cheese frosting. The hardest part of a visit isn’t deciding if you’ll get a cake — it’s choosing the flavor and the size. There are four sizes on offer, and I almost always go with the Bundtlet. It’s a “personal size” cake, though let’s be honest — you’ll probably devour the whole thing in one sitting. I used to try saving half for later, but that never lasted long.
If you’re not sure what to order, you can always ask for a sample or get a rundown of the flavors available that day. That’s when you’ll interact with the staff — an experience that can sometimes be hit or miss. On this visit, they were pleasant and efficient, handling my order and presenting it neatly. But when I asked if there was a fork in the bag, the employee smiled and said they don’t offer them — and wasn’t sure if they ever had. I assured her they used to. A quick glance at the negative reviews for this location reveals a theme: minor service issues, like the lack of utensils, that detract from an otherwise stellar product. There were three or four employees behind the counter when I visited, and I was the only customer. That’s a lot of payroll for a shop selling $5 cakes. With some extra training and attention to detail, they could easily bring the service experience up to the same level as their cakes.
Fortunately, I’m not the type to let those details overshadow what really matters. The cake was just as good as I remembered. And when my wife asked me to bring home a cake for her and our son, well… that says everything that needs to be said. Because in the end, the true measure of any bakery is this: when one slice turns into two, and two turns...
Read moreMy daughter in law ordered one of these cakes for our Christmas dessert. She asked me to pick it up the day before Christmas and the place was busy with lots of cars buzzing into the parking lot to pick up their Christmas cakes. The parking lot is kind of small so I was so surprised there wasn't any accidents. I waited for a while for it to be clear before I attempted to pull out of my parking space to leave and I wasn't even parked in front of the business. I understand though , it was the Christmas rush and people running around with their heads cut off.
Anyway , when I went inside I was immediately greeted from a lady with a tablet and I gave her the name for pickup and I didn't have to wait long at all to get the cake. The store front is small and nicely decorated with a big flip poster menu to see the different cakes you can order. It was very cute. The cake we got was very moist the next day and the icing was very good , sweet but not overpowering. I thought it was very good and my daughter in law loves them. Her favorite is the White Chocolate Raspberry. We got the Chocolate Chocolate Chip this time. She said it's the best cakes...
