Hammond's Bakery — Restaurant in Lauderhill

The food is pretty good at this place but, there's a customer service nightmare going on there....!!

My girlfriend has never had Jamaican pattie before & I wanted her to try it. I bought 2 chicken patties, went outside & tasted it. It had that heavy acidic taste that tells you it has gone bad.

I went back & told this BIG girl that served me... I ask for fresh patties... Her response was that she has just made the patties (As if ppl don't know the difference between fresh & tainted patties).

I suggested that she taste the pattie herself which she refused. I threw both patties in the garbage right there in the store & left.

I believe that some of us are used to low standards & expect all of us to be satisfied with that standard cuz we're all black.

I wonder, how can a business with good food, good location & good patronage hire someone who seems to be angry all the time & want to take it out on everybody else.

I have spoken to other patrons of the store & they have one complaint.... The HUGE girl....!

I need an apology & my money back.... & I will spread the word continually until...

I've been coming to this place for years, the food is authentic and one of a kind. I always come for the same thing but when I first started coming here they were always out of the veggie patty. I spoke with the manager because everytime I walk thru the door no matter what time of day, veggie patty always not ready or unavailable. So for several years, before I come to the spot, I always call to make sure they have my veggie patty....today is the last day I'll be coming here. After calling 10 minutes ahead of time asking for two veggie patty to be ready when I get there, I arrive wait in the usually long lunch line only to be told I have to wait ten minutes and I misunderstood what someone else said on the phone to me about the patty. It's a damn shame after all these years it's still a problem keeping product ready for the customer specially when the customer have to go out the way to let the restaurant know "please make sure you have the product you advertise available...

My wife and I were in South Florida for the 4th of July Weekend so we decided to revisit Hammond's bakery ( Lauder-hill ) because we like the fact that the size of the patty had not shrunk like most other places. We were sorely disappointed. They have compromised on the quality of their patties in a huge way. The patties were floppy and we weren't sure if we were eating beef or some other substitute. We voiced our dissatisfaction to a friend of ours, who lives in the area and she also had a similar complaint. She also felt that they were substituting beef with something else, and as a result she stopped buying their patties. As Jamaicans , we are not easily fooled, as many of us return home yearly and it is a must that we indulge ourselves in the local cuisine . We also have vivid memories of the size and taste of beef patties we had growing up before we migrated . For some, this compromise or lower standard maybe acceptable, but it is not for the...
