Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Lawrence Township

Ate here yesterday. Overall the experience was fine, but there were several issues that we ran into. We arrived at about 2:30pm, which I figured would leave us nearly alone in the restaurant since it was such an in-between time of day. There were others there but it was pretty quiet as restaurants go. Hostess was tremendous, accommodating us with a large booth and leading us on a clearer path to the table since my grandmother uses a walker. Our server arrived a few minutes later to take our drink orders, which came about five minutes later, at which point we ordered our food and a plate of wings as an appetizer. Things started to drop off from here. When the wings came out (~15 mins later), only the platter itself came out, no dishes, utensils or napkins, so we had to flag our server down (for the first of many times). When our orders came out, multiple dishes were missing french fries, which confused me. How do you sign off on a dish being completed when one of the two items are missing (i.e. sandwich/burger and fries)? The server noted that and said he'd be right out with them. Naturally, ten minutes later, we had to flag him down (again) to remind him they were still not here. At that same time, we ordered some drink refills. He returned a few minutes later with two of the three drink refills, but still no fries (or the other drink). Finally after another return trip, we had everything, but this took far too long for some basic requests in my opinion. From there the rest of the meal was fine and our food was great all around. Our server was also very friendly; I don't mean to put blame or single him out but it just didn't seem like we had the most polished experience. Updated 6/26/18... DOWNGRADED TO 2 STARS - went to for appetizers @ around 10pm one day last week Wings, beef nachos, and Chicken wontons. About 25 minutes after ordering we received wings and chicken nachos. We returned the chicken nachos since we ordered beef and 10 minutes later the waitress says the kitchen is effing everything up so she Doesn't know when we'll get our food. I figured these are APPETIZERS so how bad could it be? 30 minutes later she showed up with our chicken wontoms and the beef nachos. So, it took over an hour for the chicken wontons, which were fine, but the nachos came cold and poorly made. We sent them back, and the manager came to our table to apologize and let us know it was the most poorly made plate of nachos she had ever seen. She said she would have it remade, this only took 20 minutes but the chips tasted burnt. We didn't want to say anything since this was already the 3rd plate of nachos they tried to make for us. The waitress apologized for the poor service ND said she would ask the manager to remove one of the appetizers from the bill... Then she came back to the table with the full bill.. Took almost an hour and a half and 3 tries to get us 3 appetizers and they felt OK charging us full price. Extremely disappointed... This is to be a go-to for us... Not anymore...... Came to this restaurant after working a double shift and was exhausted, hungry, and ready for a drink. I have to keep in mind we came an hour before close (being in the industry I know that is frustrating, but we meant to be in and out). We ordered an appetizer sampler, and some won ton tacos and a few drinks. The waitress did have a party with all split checks at the same time, but she visibly expressed her frustration and seemed to judge us and rush us from the moment she arrived at our table. Waited a while for drinks, food came out, was never checked on. We Kept trying to get her attention for another round of drinks, when she finally came she took the order, disappeared, than came back and informed us she couldn’t do the drinks because they close in 5 minutes… We were frustrated because we had been trying to get her attention for 20 minutes, literally. I suppose a manager or bartender intervened and allowed us to have the drinks… we finished them quickly and left. The service was atrocious. She seemed miserable and I do feel for her, but work ethic is important. The food was okay. Average microwave grade food. Drinks were terrible. The Long Island tasted like pure sour.
