I don't give anything less than 5 stars as I know how important they are for small business owners however I hope I can share my experience with the owner or manager...that is if they care to read.
I have been a Patron of your business for 11 years. Food is good but the attitude of the staff can sometimes be hit or miss. I know people "have their days" but the consistency of this "I am too busy for you attitude" remains to be the same over the 11 years all be it not on every occasion.
Example for today: I call to place a pick up order. I am asked if I can hold on the line. I say sure. 18 minutes later someone picks up as if I am a new caller. I said "Yes, I was actually on hold" then I get a response back "yeh...we're busy...well Busy'ish...what would you like?" As I order, I am corrected by the person on the phone with the the proper way to say the dish (Brilliant...thanks). When I come to pick up the food, I am greeted by the person on the register with no eye contact and while I know its hard to say for many a "thank you" was never given...actually I said thank you to the person that was taking my Money.
Restaurants are not in the food business...they are in the Hospitality business. If you want to know how you can improve your hospitality to your customers, I would highly encourage you to read "setting the table" by Danny Meyer.
Making good food people want & treating your customers with exceptional hospitality is the recipe for long term success. Thanks...
Read moreSeveral days ago I ordered 4 dozen rolls for Easter dinner. I was to pick them up on Sunday morning on the way to dinner. At the time I ordered the rolls I wasn't aware that we were going to have snow storms on Easter morning. After hearing the weather report this morning I called and asked if there was any way I could get the rolls today instead of in the morning. I was told that the baker had everything lined up for orders due on Saturday and it probably wasn't going to be possible. This is totally understandable and I had no problem with our original plan....but it never hurts to ask. Later today I got a call and was told that my rolls were ready and I could pick them up in about 30 minutes. Needless to say I dropped what I was doing and drove to Lawrence. Since I live about 40 minutes away I jumped in the car as I was (NOT a pretty site) and drove to Lawrence as quickly as I could get there. I can't tell you how grateful I am for their kindness. They certainly did not have to go out of their way to get my order to me. It was truly above and beyond the call. My sister and I are devoted fans of Wheatfields. We have used them for Thanksgiving breads for several years and they have been wonderful to work with. Thank you Wheatfields you have no idea how grateful we are for your kindness. For those of you who are reading this review.....call them. You...
Read moreTheir food, desserts, and baked goods are really good, and in my experience the staff there are always friendly. However, they sell out of things very quickly and I feel like every time I go in they’re sold out of half of their selection, and any time I stop by to get something specific they’re magically out (yet again). This coupled with the fact that some of their best items are specials they only make once a week means that getting a lot of what they make is very difficult. I guess if you don’t work and have nothing to do other than go to a bakery then it’s fine, but for people who work or are otherwise unable to just show up early to make sure they get what they want, it’s extremely inconvenient. You’d think if it consistently happens they’d just….make more of it? Or make some throughout the day, instead of only selling what was pre made? Like, that’s business 101; that’s literally how supply works. Imagine McDonald’s saying that they’re out of Big Macs at noon, so you’re just SOL until the next week. And they don’t appear to understand that you can, in fact, continue to bake products in the middle of the day.
You can have the best desserts and baked goods in the world, but if I can never buy it then it doesn’t really...
