Xavier has poor customer service skills and does not multi-task well enough. I have been coming to Reyna's for a while and enjoy their coffee. However, today's experience was not a favorable one. From the moment I entered Reyna's, I was glanced at and ignored. I saw Xavier making coffee and another gentleman making sandwiches. I didn't think anything was off, so I went to the register to wait to place my order as per usual. After waiting a while, I looked at Xavier and he told me that he would be with me in a moment as he was making other drinks. I continued to wait patiently because I still didn't see any issues. However, after I continued to wait, I turned and looked at Xavier again. This time he looks over at his co-worker and then comes around the counter to take my order. What I found to be disappointing was when Xavier told me he forgot that I was standing there and that he thought my order was already placed. Seriously? To whom? I was the only one on the other side of the counter, next to the register. His co-worker was still making sandwiches. After placing my order, I proceeded to wait only to see that Xavier was not that busy. Sure, there were still online orders coming in because the other gentleman was still making sandwiches. However, Xavier wasn't making coffee. I saw him on his phone. I even saw him having a discussion with another patron. Meanwhile, my expresso shots for my coffee were sitting idle. To make matters worse, when white people come into Reyna's to place their orders, Xavier magically knows to get back to work. Why is there a difference in the customer service this time? They can wait too. Reyna's coffee needs more baristas and someone at the register who has good customer service skills because today was not Xavier's day. Get it together & God bless...
Read moreThis was my first experience back here in a few years. I was excited to show my boyfriend a place that I remembered was really good. Once in a while their tres leches cake would cross my mind and I’d reminisce about how delicious it was. So, naturally, I ordered their tres leches cake when I finally got the opportunity to be back here. I hyped it up to my boyfriend and spent the $7 for a slice because I thought it was going to be just as good as before. I was so wrong. Catastrophically wrong. The cake was so hard and dense, it was like eating a brick of dough with some cream on it. I tried to talk to the girl working, showing her how hard it was, but she gave me this bs explanation that it was because it was in the fridge and was cold. Something like “if you put cake in the fridge, it gets hard.” I tried to tell her that I didn’t think that was the case, but she persisted. I’ve had tres leches cake from the fridge before. It does not get that hard. So, to test her theory, I brought it home and let it get to room temperature. Of course, it was still extremely dense… just warmer. I just wish she would've just told me I was right and gave me a refund or replacement, but she was quick to tell me I was wrong. I know she’s just doing her job, but the disappointment I felt was immense. Not to mention, the mocha frappe we got was not great and had an off-putting, powdery texture. I’ve learned my lesson not to hype up places anymore. I probably...
Read moreFood critic here - a bit pricey and took a little while for everything to come out though it wasn’t even busy, but I enjoyed my experience overall with the avocado toast and dragonfruit smoothie being the highlight. The avocado toast was shockingly delicious. One of those flavors that you can’t figure out how they made it taste so good from avocados lol. I almost want to call and ask them but I just know it has to be a secret ingredient. Matcha Latte was up to par, could’ve used more matcha - I was yearning for that earthy matcha kick. Dragon fruit smoothie was delicious, smooth and airy like pureed banana texture. One of my favorite smoothie textures. Also didn’t taste like that candy/artificial mixer type of dragon fruit, it was a natural delicate creamy flavor reminiscent of papaya but more “purple” tasting.
The one thing I wasn’t crazy about was the French toast. Looks more like a cinnamon crunch cake (which I don’t mind) but it didn’t have a cake OR bread texture, so all around was hard to identify. The texture was gummy and gelatinous. Similar to how homemade bread looks when it’s cut open too early before it gets a chance to cool (looked up images of gelatinous bread and looks identical to what I had) i highly doubt that texture was intentional so if this bread is made in house I’d revise it with the chef(s) to make sure every batch isn’t coming out like that. All around, I’d definitely...
