On 07/27/2025 at approximately 3:37 PM, I ordered a to-go meal consisting of two chicken flautas and one chicken quesadilla. My wife picked up the order. Upon checking the items, she found the quesadilla was made inconsistently with the online description (photo to be uploaded). It should have been straightforward.
At approximately 3:50 PM, I called the restaurant and spoke with a female (name unknown). I explained that I received a quesadilla that was open-faced (one tortilla) and included olives and jalapeños—ingredients not listed in the description. I informed her the meal could not be eaten due to an allergy to jalapeños. She stated, “the quesadilla was supposed to be made like that and that any modifications would need to be requested, such as removal of the jalapeños.”
I pointed out that their website said SPECIFICALLY otherwise, and the situation was misleading. She implied no remake would be offered. I asked her to inform someone about the issue, and she said she would. That ended the first call.
I gave my son my meal and tried to eat his quesadilla just to move on. However, I still couldn’t eat it due to residual spiciness from the jalapeños, even after removing them.
I decided to request a refund, as the quesadilla cost $12.50. I called again and asked to speak to the manager, feeling the original staff member would not be helpful. I told the manager I wanted a refund due to the issues. The manager, who did not provide a name, said he would issue a credit. I stated I didn’t want a credit and wouldn’t be returning to the restaurant. He then said “he was too busy to deal with me, and get me a refund,” and told me to call back tomorrow. I explained that I couldn’t wait and needed the refund immediately. He replied that “he would not help me.”
Lastly, I attempted to eat the flautas, but they were dry after sitting for a while. This is a side note, but not the main concern of...
Read moreLa Puente Mexican Restaurant in Layton, Utah has the best carne asada burrito I have ever had. From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were attentive, accommodating, and made sure that my dining experience was exceptional.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the carne asada burrito. As a fan of Mexican cuisine, I've had my fair share of burritos, but this one truly blew me away. The tortilla was perfectly toasted and held together all the savory goodness inside. The carne asada was grilled to perfection, tender, and full of flavor. Every bite was a burst of deliciousness.
The burrito was generously filled with rice, beans, cheese, and a perfect balance of fresh ingredients. The flavors melded together perfectly, creating a taste sensation that left me wanting more. The portion size was also impressive; it was so filling that I couldn't finish it all in one sitting.
Furthermore, the presentation of the burrito was visually appealing. It was neatly wrapped, ensuring that none of the ingredients would escape. The dish was garnished with vibrant vegetables which added an extra touch of freshness.
The service at La Puente Mexican Restaurant was exceptional. The servers were friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and always available to answer any questions I had. They truly made me feel like a valued customer.
The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and had a relaxed ambiance. It was the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The prices were also reasonable considering the quality and portion size of the food.
Overall, if you are in Layton, Utah, I highly recommend visiting La Puente Mexican Restaurant and trying their carne asada burrito. It is a true gem that will satisfy your cravings for delicious Mexican cuisine. I guarantee that you will leave with a smile on your face and a happy,...
Read moreLa Puente used to be a reliably decent place to get American Mexican dishes. I was quite disappointed with my latest experience there, and this is why;
The Ambiance: When walking into the restaurant it feels as if it is a Mexican-themed sports bar. The lighting and cleanliness were okay, but multiple TVs everywhere, each with a different sport playing, really distracts from the feeling that you are in a Mexican restaurant. It is a huge tell that you are not going to experience truly authentic Mexican foods IMHO.
The Service: We were greeted fairly quickly, and there was no wait to be seated. That was not surprising as we did have a late dinner (around 8:30 p.m.). The service issues were two-fold; 1. Not being offered refills on our drinks, and 2. Not being followed up with on our satisfaction with our entrées.
The Food: The quality of the ingredients was especially disappointing. It had been a couple of years since we last ate there, and the cost-cutting changes to their ingredients and preparation were painfully obvious. I ordered their Large Combination Plate, which comes with a taco, a burrito, a tostada, an enchilada, and chile verde. While the cheese enchilada was okay, the taco, which used to have meat on it, was a bean-filled catastrophe. Same with the burrito, and the tostada. The chile verde sauce was fine, but there was a pitiful amount of pork within it. I could not finish my food at the restaurant because of my disappointment and got a to-go container. The sad thing about that is the fact that I didn't take anything home, apart from the cheese enchilada.
All these things combined into a very disappointing experience, and I do not recommend La...
