Love the Layton Sizzler. I go frequently and enjoy going on Sunday's after my church if I can. This besides the gym, is my favorite place to be. It's become something of a tradition for me to come often to Sizzler and in the last five months on a Sunday. I often order the grilled salmon and salad bar. Depending on my funds, sometimes I just get a salad buffet. I'm starting to think that my Sunday visits should be called Salmon Sunday. The grilled salmon is my most favorite meal with steamed broccoli. Very smooth, buttery grilled flavor. Very tasty. I love how they make the salmon. I work out in the gym often and under training with a trainer. My workouts are hard and intense because I'm training as a pro incline trail runner. So the healthy food the sizzler with the fish and fresh vegetables and fruits is a real plus. If I could be there every day and could afford it I most definitely would. The management and the staff are always so nice to me. They all know who I am and know me as a loyal, regular or frequent customer. I have not had any bad service or any problems with anything there. I pay a cash tip directly to my server rather than leave it on the table. I have been doing this now for over a year because a cash tip I left on a table around last Christmas got taken by someone other than my server who it was meant for. Since then, I pay my tips directly to my server. I read several posts about not being fine dining but I don't care about that. Sizzler of Layton may not be fine dining, but it sure is plenty good enough for me. This restaurant has much helped me in my diet and physical needs of health. I may not be able to afford it all the time much as I wish I am happy and satisfied each time. They have been around a long time...many, many years and have a good reputation with very good credibility. You can't go wrong on something like that. I have brought both family and friends there and always satisfied at the end. In another week I'll be coming with a church group and we much look forward to...
Read moreAlright, I went in here with low expectations. I hadn’t heard very good things, but figured we’d still give it a try.
We brought our family of 6 here for dinner. As soon as we walked in, the restaurant smelled (and not in a good way). As we made our way towards the cashier, the stench was getting worse. We realized it was coming from the bathroom which was right by where we had to stand to read the menu. It wasn’t pleasant.
We reached the person as the register and she proceeded to ask what we wanted. She didn’t seem very kind at all. At one point she looked directly at my boyfriend and said (with her fingers pointed at him) “I’m talking to you…I’m specifically talking to you.” I couldn’t believe her tone, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and we continued ordering.
Once we were done and went to our table, we met our waitress. She was the sweetest person! She made sure our drinks were always filled and brought us plates and plates of shrimp. She was all smiles and super sweet, even when the people at the table next to us weren’t very nice (and grossly under tipped her).
I got the steak and all you could eat shrimp. The shrimp was delicious and the steak was okay. I had the thickest piece (lucky me!), but it definitely was not medium rare. I think they cook all the steaks the same regardless of what you request. Our daughter got the mega bacon cheeseburger and it looked delicious! I want to get THAT next time. She was super happy with it and it was extremely filling. Our son ordered the salad bar and was pretty happy with the options. I was eyeballing the Navajo tacos at the salad bar.
I didn’t realize we needed cash for the tip (which explains why the lady at the register asked if we wanted cash back). Since she wasn’t pleasant our first time around, I was weary to go talk to her again. To my surprise she was very pleasant and helped me get cash to tip the waitress.
I’m not sure if...
Read moreFood was apparently from yesterday, looking at the salad bar was very sad! Food was not fresh! Taco bar was disgusting and looked like it had been sitting there for days! The soups look horrible, completely dry on top, as if it hadn’t been stirred for hours! Again disgusting! My waitress was very kind and very helpful. She made me a personal soup in the back that was fresh and didn’t look like moldy cheese like the ones in the case! I couldn’t find the salad tongs in the lettuce, so I grabbed the spinach tongues and started to take a scoop, lo and behold the lettuce tongues were at the very bottom of the pan covered in lettuce! Disgusting! The workers were very unhelpful and very disrespectful when I asked for anything! Although my waitress was very kind and very helpful. The only good experience I had at the Layton sizzler was chatting with a very nice waitress.! if I could give less of one star, you bet I would give it nothing! The salad display was poor and very messy! Several of the kitchen staff standing around, doing nothing, and chatting about their own personal lives! My waitress apologized several times, and indicated that the staff was all young children, high school age who don’t care about their job and who don’t want to work. They obviously have no pride in their job whatsoever.! As far as I’m concerned, this Layton Sizzler might as well close their doors! As for me, I will not be going back, and I will recommend to all my friends and family to avoid Layton sizzler at all costs! No compensation was offered whatsoever for not having fresh soup and for not having fresh taco bar as well as the salad bar a complete mess ! For anybody is interested, Texas roadhouse and Applebee’s has amazing...
