My son’s Birthday dinner request was a resounding, “steak and ribs!”. With no time to cook, that narrowed the search down to a few restaurants in the area. The Blooming onion commercial recent within my memory, Outback Steakhouse was as fine as choice as any with both offerings. Excited for a good meal, we were happily seated in a small booth in the bar area. A smaller table seemed acceptable for a family of 4 with 2-under-10 year olds. However, upon noticing another section of the restaurant with bigger booths available, and lacking any beer-chugging bros who’s language would make Eminem blush, I realized that perhaps we were being punished for bringing along 2 uncultured nuisances to such a fine dining establishment. My kids did not pay much attention to their surroundings throughout the night, thankfully, and my child happily exclaimed to our waitress, “it’s my Birthday!” once we arrived. I will say that she seemed nice, and she provided a nice scoop of ice cream with chocolate and caramel on it for the birthday boy at the end of the night. An appetizer and 3 entrees were split between us all, it was more than enough food and the steak was cooked perfectly. I thought the food was pretty good but at $25 per entree that is debatable. I’ll cook next time, but I digress. Our bread and beverages came out together, which would be fine if it were quick, however it was not. I ordered our bloomin’ onion at this time which came out after another 10 minutes and plopped right on top of our bread board, so I guess no more bread? Fine, we have plenty of food, but picking it up would have been the better choice since we’re working with a small amount of surface area here. After retrieving an onion, my wife plops her wool coat sleeve promptly into the dipping sauce, “oops, here’s a napk….wait where’s the napkins?”, I say. I frantically look around for the first sign of help, it’s the hostess, “can I get some napkins?” I ask. Now even though these were intended to keep the moisture off the bottom of beers, I’ll happily receive them. I Ordered our mains and requested some silverware, “maybe those even come with a fancy cloth napkin?”, I thought. They did, but not before we spent 10 minutes contemplating the most civilized way to eat soup and salad without cutlery. We would drink the soup like a hot beverage and dunk crisp lettuce leafs into the dressing with pinkies pointed outwards, we had figured it out. But alas, my numerous reminders finally paid off and we were provided our backordered silverware. A few other gentle reminders throughout the evening proved to work wonders. “This isn’t what we ordered”, and “You forgot something” was a common discussion. I know a bone in rib-eye from a boneless, and certainly know when my mashed potatoes are missing. Our plates were stacked high, much like you see at a crab leg buffet, but eating in your lap is convenient. And since you are always leaning over your plate, we didn’t even have to remind the children of this manner through the night. The full rack of ribs would have been believable, should it have been a rack of rabbit. I had to double check, since it was missing the largest ribs, and was wondering where they got such small pigs. As I mentioned, we did get the ice cream, which tops off any night, and we’re grateful for that. This evening has left a scar of sorts that will never heal, which is okay. My children will inevitably hear worse things as they grow older, and we will have worse dining experiences, hopefully in a 3rd world country, later. We go out to a restaurant to be waited on, for the experience, and to eat good food. There are many other restaurants in the world and even in Layton that can provide that, so I say, goodbye to you Outback, and god speed.

I ordered a rare steak. The first one came out overcooked. They brought me out another and the center was ice cold. I waited at the table watching other servers avoid our table for over 10 minutes. Finally Amy came back to ask how everything was tasting, and I asked for it to be taken off our check so we could just leave. Each time we asked our server (Amy), for something we had to wait over 10 minutes for her to come back and she often did not bring back what we asked for. Not sure why a steakhouse doesn't know how to cook steak. They even have a section in their menu showing the differences between how the steaks are cooked. Amy didn't come back after giving us the check so we took it up front. They said we had to wait at the table to pay. We told them that we have been. Someone went to the back and got her. She took my card in the back to pay, she brought me back the receipt and we left. Amy followed us to our car and kept touching me because she said she needed to keep our receipt! I asked her to stop following us and she kept doing it. She insisted she needed it as proof that we paid. I had a notification on my phone that it went through and a receipt. They should have something on their end also. I am provided a receipt for my records. That's what receipts are for! She finally went inside when I got in my car and then someone else came outside to ask for it too! $22 for an uncooked steak that wasn't even touched, no refills on a sprite, and harassment is ridiculous.

Horrible experience. Really upsetting. Ordered takeout and it was ready 11 minutes late. I should have checked the bag to make sure the order was right, but I assumed my $103.89 order would be right because this isn’t fast food. I drove 15 minutes home and looked in the back to see it was missing a bloomin onion and one side. I drove 15 minutes back. They gave me the missing items but didn’t even apologize or offer to make anything right with a discount or anything. They just said, “we’re understaffed.” Well, that’s not a good enough excuse. I paid for an order, your job is to give me what I paid for. Then got home again and found that my two 18oz ribeyes that were supposed to be medium and medium well, were both clearly rare. And after driving back and forth twice, the food was cold and soggy. We won’t be returning. Bad service. Bad food. What a disappointment. $100+ in the trash.

It has been a while since we had visited an Outback and my husband and I decided to go eat here on a Friday night. Initially our experience was good, we did have to wait a bit longer even though we had a reservation, but we were patient despite being pretty hungry and after about 10 minutes we were shown to our table. We ordered an appetizer and two entrées right away. We received our appetizer within about 10 min along with our drinks. Up to this point we had good service, however we then proceeded to sit and wait approximately 45 min for our entrées. Not only did it take a full 45 min for our server to check in with us and even realize we hadn't receive our entrée, but she told us she would go check and didn't return to give us an update on what the issue was. Eventually after probably 10 minutes she came back and told us our ticket had been lost somehow and apologized and said that our entrée was on its way. (I don't understand how our ticket was lost if we received our appetizer and drinks) After probably another five minutes we finally received our entrée, or most of it as my husband's was still missing one of his sides. One of the managers came over and apologized and told us he removed the appetizer and drinks from the bill along with an extra $25 dollars from the bill total and that he had something extra he was going to bring us to make up for the wait (He never elaborated on what it would be and we never received anything). When we looked at the bill they had indeed removed the appetizer and drinks however we were still charged full price for both entrees so I don't understand how he could have removed an extra $25. My husband had asked for his steak to be medium and it was actually raw, due to the length of time we had already been there and how hungry we were we didn't complain and he ate what he could but it ended up making him sick later that night. One of the servers came over who mentioned she was another district manager and told us she felt really badly for everything that happened, she looked at our bill and told us she would be paying for our bill. We were both very appreciative of this, until 5 minutes later when she came back and said that she saw another manager made some adjustments and that we would still have to pay and instead gave us some "coupons" to use for the next time. After this we paid the bill and left without still never receiving my husband's second side or the "something extra" from the other manager. Very disappointing experience and needless to say but we will never be back. If I could give a word of advice to this particular location, learn to organize yourself and have better communication amongst staff so that you aren't giving false...

Firstly I have to mention that I am from Nevada visiting for vacation, so I do not know anyone at this establishment. It just happened to be nicely located close to my Hotel. The food was fantastic, the location convenient and interior clean, but there was one thing that made our experience there worthy of 5 stars from start to finish, and that was our waiter Zach. His attitude, and unmatched level of customer service were fantastic. I honestly cannot remember in my life ever having a waiter that was as great as he was. From the moment he showed up at our table he had a smile, greeted us warmly and with a kind welcome. He had an entire section with every table filled, but constantly checked in to ensure we were satisfied with the food and the experience. He made you feel like you were his only table in the room even though he had many he was handling. His attention to detail through our entire dining experience was fantastic, and I began to watch him in awe as I saw that customer service repeated table after table. At one point, when everyone had been waited on, and we were all happily eating, he even began bussing a table and cleaning it up to help whoever was cleaning tables that night (it was obvious they were inundated). I just cannot express how impressive this was to me. Zach is obviously a team player, and embodies the values of customer service that make people satisfied beyond belief with their experience at a restaurant like this. I wish we could replicate his personality and skills to the entire food service industry. I know that I am not the only one who noticed this either, as I heard another customer expressing their gratitude for his wonderful Customer Service and friendliness as I was about to leave. I definitely feel he is deserving of recognition. Again the food was great, the location convenient, and the interior clean, but without good customer service, none of that would matter. Thank you Zach for the...
