Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Layton

I wanted to give GC five stars! I used to take my kids when they were younger. We loved loved it. Their beef stew is to die for! It’s always cooked perfectly and falls apart in my mouth. Their rolls used to be so good. Each of us had a favorite. Mine was the stewed beef, carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy. My sons favorite is their mac & cheese. Hit the spot every time. My daughter too loved the beef, Broccoli and fries. The last time I took the kids to Golden Corral was four years ago. And everything tasted fantastic. My husband has never loved Golden Corral. so I always took the kids myself. For Christmas, I bought a couple gift card for the whole family to visit Golden Corral. They were really really excited! As a family, we finally went. After we pay and sit, we grabbed our plates and dispersed to get what we love. The first thing I grabbed was a roll for myself and daughter. Potatoes and gravy, along with the fantastic beef stew. The stew was good! Unfortunately the roles were hard on the bottom. They didn’t taste fresh. They tasted like they where sitting all day under a warm lamp. Could not bite through the entire thing. My daughter was not happy about that nor my son. My son got the mac & cheese that he used to love. But he told me , “ I swear they change the recipe. It’s really gross mom. And the rolls are hard like rocks.“ My husband got a baked potato As well as broccoli. His broccoli was dry and not fully cooked. Then came the deserts. . All of the other desserts where just, ok. You could tell that they have been using super low quality ingredients for their desserts as well as my son‘s mac & cheese. You could barely taste the cheese in the mac & cheese and it was dry.

Overall total disappointment. But would return again if they upped their game. We spent $65 for three adults and one kid. My daughter only had one plate of items and my son had two. If the food would’ve been great I wouldn’t of complained of spending $65-100!...

Update: April 2025- Taking from 4 star to 2 star. I've always enjoyed going here, however my last couple times I've realized that they have staff that hide their cotton candy in the desert area under the counter and do not put it out for customers. They will leave only a few out or sometimes none at all on the rack.

It's very frustrating when you pay to come to an All You Can Eat Buffet, bring your children and items aren't available intentionally due to the staff. I've spoken with the manager but it is apparently not being actually addressed. The last time we went the ladies behind the counter reached under the counter (because the rack was empty and had been for 30 minutes.) She grabbed my kids each one and when they asked for another one they told them no. And began questioning who the other was for. Excuse me? All you can eat...

I get that they may not like taking the time to make it but that is not ok and not professional. I watched numerous other children walk over there, see it was empty and walk away. Waiting for the rack to be filled. Not knowing it was all hiding away and that the staff were making you ask for it. There is no sign to let you know.

This needs to be resolved. I realize it's just cotton candy but... It's freaking cotton candy man, where else can you get it but Lagoon around here. It's like heaven to kids. Stop...

Rate it two stars nothing related to the service provide by my waiter he was great server and food was amazing . Me and my friend we felt insulted by the lady name Alba the one who got short hair . This was my first time visit this location . Due to my friend recent relocated to ogden. Normally we always visit the Midvale location . This is only time I feel I came but don’t have mood to picked up my folk. Alba came to me without any greeting point at my waiter use the tone kinda like parents telling children:”waiter is expecting some tips from me at end of my eating“. THIS IS the time we barely started . ALBA ! my two friend are chiefs from fancy sushi restaurant. We all understand what America tipping culture is . You don’t know me and we don’t know you ! We just try to have a good time on the day off . Thanks to your short conversation totally blow it off . You can’t judge a people by the looking by the race. I feel so bad. This is my first time be this location . I have to say the food is excellent grill amigo was great . Table was clean and every table have condiments as any restaurant supposed be. But alba . You ruin our day. I won’t come back. you guys are big corporations right . Is that how you train your employees? Don’t you get that from kindergarten. Don’t judge a book...
