Ok, so this place is far better than one would expect for a location that shares a roof with LoveSac and Purple mattress. Pride is something I felt from each person I talked to throughout the night. The cocktail menu was well thought out and the bartenders were focused and skilled. There really is no need to go into detail on the food, not because it wasn't memorable, but because it was borderline flawless. There wasn't one bite that my wife and I took that entire evening that didn't make our eyeballs roll into the back of our head. In pure pleasure. I ordered the steak with Marsala mushrooms, and completely cleaned my plate. Not only did I finish every single bite, but I used some of our leftover white truffle garlic bread to soak up the rest of the marsala sauce. It was that good. My wife's pizza was phenomenal, and we took half home which I snacked on the next day like a giddy schoolgirl after her first crush. The managers came over multiple times to check on us and they were sweet, attentive, and genuinely interested in us. My biggest compliment for the entire evening goes to the executive chef. If you know how a kitchen works, it's pretty easy to find the person in the kitchen that's running things. He's gotten that kitchen running like a well-oiled machine. Not only is he taking care of all of the meals that come out of the kitchen, but he's also constantly looking around the restaurant to see how everything is going. It was actually very impressive to watch. He actually makes direct eye contact with the patrons and you know he genuinely cares about what he is doing. All in all it was a very memorable evening and we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for such a...
Read moreWe felt sucker punched first visit at this establishment. First, as an Italian restaurant there should be some complimentary bread, but bread is only offered as a menu item at an extra cost. The squid ink pasta indicated "tiger" shrimp in the dish, but the shrimp pieces were probably cut into smaller portions or halved which I found 3 pieces. The squid rings that also came with the dish did not taste or looked like real squid. They were so tiny and tasteless. This is merely a black colored pasta in a marinara sauce, not the traditional black ink squid sauce common in the dish from Italy. Portion wise compared to the pricing does not amount to a value that would entice us to return. $70 (before tips)for two entree and one cocktail really gave inflation a new shock. We could have had Ayce seafood buffet at Bristols or double the size pasta entrees at Nico's &Ana that have tastier Italian dishes than what we were served. We considered ourselves foodie at heart and have tried many restaurants around the country, prices and portions ought to show a fair offer. Additionally the Hugo drink alcoholic content seems very watered down. I'm a very light and sensitive drinker, my body reacts to good alcohol very quickly. Unfortunately, even the drinks were at an exorbitantly price with very low quality content. We noticed people at the next table who didn't bother to finish their pasta which seems to have not much ingredients in the bowl. Absolutely not a place we feel justified spending that kind of money for low mediocre small platings, and get charged for bread as part of an Italian meal. Only...
Read moreToday My friend invited me to their happy hour, and I decided to give it a try since another friend kept telling me it was amazing. I was running late so my friend decided to go ahead and get us a table. Apparently if you have 3 people ahead of you and there’s tables available it’s an hour and a half wait. she got us seats at the bar. She didn’t get a happy hour menu but she already knew what she was getting and ordered. I got in a little later but thankfully I checked over the menu online before and I’m glad I did because the bartender didn’t bother speaking to me or handing me a menu until I had to get his attention. We realize it’s Wednesday and it’s busy, but regardless I noticed every single person around us got better service than we did. Frankly for the price of the food and the location you’d think to make your customers feel at least welcome. I had planned on ordering more drinks but stopped at one because I just wanted to get out of there. Once our food came in he only spoke to my friend and ignored me. No problem. the chicken Parmesan was amazing. My friend mentioned that if you’re New you can sign up for a $10 reward. So I signed up but didn’t mention it until he brought the check because he left so quickly I couldn’t tell him. When I did. He sighed, rolled his eyes and walked away. Honestly. I don’t know if it was because we’re young, or because We’re poc, or he was having an off day with just us. Maybe it was because my friend was waiting too long. Honestly I don’t care. I felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable. I most likely ...
