Here in the vast Northern Virginia food scene, Casa De Avila stands out as something truly special. While it may seem like it's just another spot to grab a quick bite, guess again - it's a trip to Mexico without the airfare, offering an authentic meal at a great price. What sets them apart even further is that this is a family-owned local small business, not some faceless multinational conglomerate selling us protein or electrolytes or whatever else an algorithm suggested.
Whether you're grabbing the birria quesataco (dunk repeatedly in consommé 🤤), diving into al pastor tacos, or trying something new like lengua or cabeza, you can't go wrong. The trick is to order plenty as the only real mistake is not getting enough tacos and quesadillas. Adding the salsa verde or the kicky salsa roja (warning: hot! 🥵) elevates everything to another level.
What's also really cool about Casa De Avila is how they've become a part of the community with their pop-up events. Teaming up with Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery on weekends, they've created this awesome blend of Mexican flavors that pair perfectly with Wheatland's land beers. It's a great example of how food and drink can bring people together, turning a meal a memorable experience. Stephanie & Abraham and their family are really onto something here, and the best thing we can do is support them and while indulging in the amazing food they prepare for us. 🤗
This place is a shining star in Loudoun, offering up authentic Mexican food that is made with a lot of love and dedication to tradition. Whether you're looking for a meal to take home or their fun pop-up experience at Wheatland, Casa De Avila absolutely nails it. Check them out – I guarantee you'll be spreading the word just...
Read moreUPDATE: We went back for take out and more tacos and they tasted great. We also got the platter and the rice and beans were fantastic!
We’re all excited to have a great Mexican restaurant in Leesburg. It’s a lively atmosphere when you walk in a there is a hostess at the ready to seat you. We went at 8p on a Sunday night and they were about half full.
The waiter was on us quickly and brought water and took our drink orders. He came back and got our dinner orders and we declined the chips and salsa/quac.
This next bit is the reason for the four stars on service. It was NOT the waiter, it was the fact that three people ordered at the same time, the veggie and shrimp order came out, then a few minutes later the Beerile and Al Pastor order came out, and then five plus minutes later the taco platter came out. That’s odd, since a polite person waits for everyone to get their food before eating.
The tacos were great and the middle sauce was so hot that we didn’t even try the hotter sauce. One issue was the refried beans were super liquid and tasted a lot like chicken broth and didn’t seem to have much of any bean meat in them. We chalked that up to being one of the last orders on a Sunday night. They should have said they were out of refried beans rather than serving what they did.
All in all, the service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the tacos were great. I just had a couple of nitpicks that I shared above.
Regardless, I’ll...
Read morePhotos do not reflect justice to the delicious and freshly made food; I was quite famished after hiking with my dog for 4.5 hours. Had heard of Casa De Avila on a Facebook group and thought to give it a go.
The entrance is through the Chef Space doors - it took me a minute to find the location. I was met by Abraham who provided me with information on the food and how it came to be. I was tired and ended up handed my mobile to Abraham who placed my order while walking me through his recommendations: platter of the tacos (corn tortilla), birria, shrimp and lengua, chips (flour tortillas) with guacamole, chicken flautas and horchata. Sauces came with the platter and chips. Everything was delicious! Not greasy or heavy, street tacos alike what you get in Mexico (corn tortillas). The horchata was very good, very refreshing - better than any one I've had before, including having lived in California and working in the Mission in San Francisco.
I didn't take to many photos as I took the food outside (it isn't a restaurant, you can order there or online at this time) and enjoyed eating it a few feet away by the kiddie playground (shaded). Thought I'd have leftovers for lunch, but only 1/2 bag of chips remained :)
Try Casa De Avila out! So very thankful that good Mexican food is here in Loudon!
And thank you Abraham for the great customer service and conversation on the business. Good luck and...
