Meddys — Restaurant in Lenexa

I am very picky about my reviews. This was my first time at Meddys as I am in town on business. Wow is all I can say. High-end restaurant food at an affordable price in a relaxed yet upscale quick-service atmosphere. The flavor of the food is truly out of this world, I now see why every location has nearly a full five stars. The server Barbara at this location sealed the deal in making this a five star review. If you are like me and had never been to Meddys before, do yourself a favor: go find out what you’ve been missing.

I had the Meddys Main Plate with chicken and lamb, suggested by Barbara. It was a huge serving of deliciousness. I eat a lot of food and am rarely satisfied with portion sizes; this was a non-issue here. And it was incredible. I can’t say enough how picky I am about my food reviews; this was off the charts good and so fresh and healthy. It tasted like taking a bite of a Mediterranean garden with so many flavors of veggies and herbs and meats.

The dining area is beautiful with very comfortable seating. The entire restaurant felt very upscale and clean, even the bathrooms. What really made my experience was the server, Barbara. She went out of her way to go above and beyond. As it was my first time here, she came around the counter to explain the entire menu to me. She suggested I do half and half of the proteins so I could try two different kinds of meats with the plate, which I loved. Throughout my meal she was consistently checking on me, clearing used dishes and napkins from my table, and even bringing me refills of my drink without me asking.

Very good food, big serving sizes with a fair price.

The Garlicky Chicken was roasted crispy throughout and was coated with a paste-like garlic sauce along with the crispy potato. The sauce was tangy and flavorful. The plate also came with a big dollop of Toum on the side, in case it wasn’t already garlicky enough — I love garlic, so I mopped it clean with the free pita bread they served at the start. I also loved the three different picked vegetables (cucumber, cherry tomato, beet) for cleansing my palate.

The falafel can be ordered as a side, and it comes in 4 per order on a bed of red bell pepper, served with a small cup of Tahini sauce. The falafel was tender throughout, good flavor on its own, and had a thin and light crust, much better than the thick and almost hard crust of falafel served in other places. The Tahini sauce had a high ratio of Tahini in it, which meant that the texture was thick and the flavor was strong, which I liked a lot.

The service here was very efficient. I came in and ordered at the counter. Not soon after I found a table and sat down, the free pita bread came quickly to my side. The food came out of the kitchen very quickly, and the waiter offered takeout boxes to me in advance, so that once the meal is done, I could immediately pack up the leftovers and get out quickly. Thanksgiving was great but what could be better for the day after than Meddys? Nothing! One of the keys to success is consistency and Meddys has been exactly the same and as good every single time. Reliable, delicious, fresh food prepared with care and at very fair prices. If you’re a fan of Middle Eastern food, why go anywhere else!!

We are late to this party! We have been meaning to get to Meddy’s and finally got there today for lunch. We have been loving Mediterranean food for a long time and have enjoyed it from New York to Jerusalem, Greece and Istanbul, Turkey. Wow! Absolutely amazing food and service and the humus was heavenly. Kudos to the entire Meddy’s team for making this the first of many visits either in the restaurant or take out as well. To say that we were blown away would be an understatement. We’re grateful for Meddy’s being so close to home. See you very soon!

Another update: Sometimes the more things stay the same, the better it is and the more it is appreciated. Such is the case with Meddy's. Consistently wonderful food in a beautiful place with absolutely lovely people who all appear to enjoy their work and satisfying the patrons. I cashed in my $20 birthday reward on the app as well.
