During our vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, we discovered the charming town of Lewes and came across a truly special restaurant: Bramble & Brine at The Buttery. It’s not just a meal here — it’s an experience I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
🏡 Historic Charm & Unique Atmosphere
The restaurant is housed in a historic little building with so much character. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by vintage décor and a nostalgic, carefully curated ambiance. One detail that really stood out to me was the painting of the “Princess of Sicily,” which I had to stop and admire after reading about it in reviews. The whole setting feels both intimate and meaningful — the kind of place where history and hospitality blend seamlessly.
🍽️ Exceptional Food
While the prices are on the higher side, the food makes it absolutely worth it. We ordered a few dishes recommended by the staff, and every one of them was outstanding: • Crab Cake – hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long time: flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully cooked. • French-style Oysters – fresh, elegant, and bursting with flavor. • Lamb – tender, rich, and simply unforgettable.
Each plate showed great attention to detail and a level of craftsmanship that left us impressed.
🤝 Outstanding Service
The service here is just as memorable as the food. The staff took time to patiently walk us through the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and frequently checked in to make sure the dishes suited our taste. Their warmth and attentiveness elevated the entire dining experience.
🌈 Inclusive & Welcoming
Another highlight is the warm and inclusive atmosphere. The restaurant is proudly LGBTQ-friendly, which adds to the sense of openness and comfort. It feels like a space where everyone is welcome to enjoy a fine dining experience.
In short, Bramble & Brine is a gem — historic, beautifully decorated, inclusive, with top-notch service and food that rivals some of the best I’ve ever tried. When I return to Rehoboth Beach, this will be at the top of my list to visit again.

Read moreOur experience was unfortunately not what we had expected it to be. We were asked to wait at the bar while our table was ready. We had 4 o’clock reservations. There were only a few other people at the bar that already had drinks and the bartender didn’t even acknowledge us for a very long time. Being in a service industry even him saying hello folks I’ll be with you in a few minutes would’ve been nice. I ordered a blueberry lemonade that said it had fresh squeeze, lemonade muddled blueberries a sugar rim and I added vodka. I got a lemonade no sugar rim no muddled blueberries Just a vodka lemonade when I asked him about it, he said nobody here makes it that way. It’s just blueberry syrup. if you’re paying roughly $15 for a cocktail, it should be made the way it states on the menu. We finally got to our table. Our waitress was fairly new and it showed she was very sweet, but didn’t know the menu at all. We ordered the cheddar biscuits to be brought out first and they never came. My husband had the shrimp mac & cheese, which he said was very good. I had the blackened salmon which was also very good. It didn’t have the hollandaise sauce on it like it said it should. they tried to charge us for our drinks that we had already paid for at the bar so we had to mention that. we asked for a dessert to go, but the waitress hardly ever came back to our table so we just asked for the check so we could leave. For the amount of money we paid we expected a lot more. They were dirty tables everywhere so I’m not sure if they were just understaffed for the day or...
Read moreI regret giving the restaurant 3 stars but there were problems with the food. I waited a week to post this review just to mull it over. The first course, oysters on the half shell were obviously shucked waaay ahead of time. To the point that they were dry. I should have sent them back but I ate them and they had no taste at all. It was as if they had been washed with tap water, drained, and put back in the fridge with no covering for the better part of a day. It was early and not so busy that they would grab some oysters prepped for baking (or did they?). On that note, my friend ordered a baked oyster dish and she said it had no taste. My main course was a bone-in pork loin and it came out undercooked. I asked for a sharper knife to cut through the tough parts and ate around the edges. I didn't want to complain again after mentioning the tastless and dried up oysters to the waiter. So I asked for the pork to go and recooked it at home. What ever the sides were, it was just a small serving and not memorable. My friend orderded a side of veggies, the ubiquitous brussel sprouts cooked with a lot of bacon, they were salty. Personally, I'm over the brussel sprouts and bacon thing, time to move on. For dessert, we both ordered cake and it was fantastic. The wait staff was friendly but they left the oysters on the bill. I will go back again and hope for a better experience, I've never had a problem at Megan's other...
