Never in my life have I written a bad or negative review, I couldn’t give this place less stars...
Started off by entering the full Eatery, There were at least twenty locals sitting in there with Nothing on their tables Besides Maybe two coffees that looked Purchased, and A handful that Were obviously brought from Home, There was one vacant table Stuck in the far left corner as You’re looking out the window back out front I Heard a Lady in the group say “We could Be Nice And Move In so they could sit down, But We’re not” loud enough That I felt sad, and uncomfortable... (She has further implied that They didn’t want People not from their group to Be able to Sit in the Restaurant during their total takeover) The pastries looked “Hard” and Unloved, The Counter Staff was polite but not much Help, so You’ve got this entirely Occupied restaurant with a free table, the Lady At the counter knew We wanted to eat, And needed a table there was one Table oddly outside in freezing temperatures next to a dog bowl that was rock solid with frozen ice water (ended up spending Our Sixty Dollars elsewhere across the street which ended up doing Us a huge favor, while We’ll Never Be Back To Nothing Hill, We Found a New favorite from the huge disappointment that Notting Hill is!) the place is old, antiquated and Has these really odd Coffee bean bags taking up valuable retail space where customers could come sit if you didn’t have freeloading locals coming in to sit down and congregating So Much So That People who Were looking to spend money and buy a Breakfast, Could Have, But If You go, You’ll need to know two Schedules, the Coffee shops hours and the Hours That the locals come in, take over and don’t spend a dime ...Oh, and insult potentially paying customers who wanted to buy a pretty decent purchase! The staff couldn’t have cared less it looked as if it Was pretty much run by kids that have been overrun by People who just want a place to congregate, It’s unfortunate that the owners aren’t as smart as their Deceptive hostile patrons who’ve taken it over from the ownership, Oh, and that place across the street Nectar. much much Better, go there, even though it’s Stuffed to the gills around the clock But still got a seat immediately with an exceedingly knowledgeable and super friendly server who made Our meal everything Perfect from the disappointment We endured across the street, the food was quick, good value, The presentation was impeccable and It was truly one of the Best Breakfasts I’ve ever had! When I walked out of Nectar after happily spending sixty bucks, I looked across the street to Notting Hill, apparently the Crowd That took over left Because there wasn’t a soul around and no one coming in or out, I walked around the town for approximately two Hours and still saw no activity over at Notting Hill, The Place just lost its luster and came across as a struggling dump heap, especially when They’ve Let outwardly rude freeloaders take over their space and kick out People who Wanted to spend money and would’ve got plenty for the road, Never ever again, The Place isn’t worth the time to even write this review, but obviously you the Possible next victim of this crowd could Be, So, If I’ve even saved one other person what I had to endure there this morning with a disappointment that is unusual in the dining experience, I’ve Helped somebody not have to experience the sad state of things I started my day with at Notting Hill, But Hey, They did Me a Huge Favor, I found Nectar, Will Tell Everyone back Home about it, I’m also a Food Blogger And Will Give Nectar all the stars in the world, Notting Hill is really doing potential diners on second street a huge favor and making the trip over to Nectar an easy one!
Go there, save your time And money, Harvest was such a treat that in an odd way I’m grateful to Notting Hill For, so, if there was a justification I could find for even the one...
Read moreFirst off I'd like to say that I am not one to give negative reviews. But, my time at Notting Hill Coffee Roastery was very unpleasant due to the people behind the counter. I am a local from Bethany beach and have visited Lewes many times, but this was my first time trying Notting Hill. My family ordered a muffin, latte, green tea, a caesar wrap and everything was delicious! While ordering a caesar wrap and I specifically asked what kind of lettuce is used in the wrap due to the recent recall on romaine, the older woman behind the cash register acted as if it were a chore to go and ask what kind of lettuce was being used, rolling her eyes and exhaling loudly, basically showing what an annoyance I was. I couldn't get a straight answer and was continually told green lettuce.... There are so many types of green lettuce so why couldn't she have just told me the specific kind, it should say it on the label. Next, I ordered a green tea and I didn't realize that the tea was self-serve. So, I waited for my hot water and started to search for the green tea bags only to find out there are none and that they need to hand bag it themselves. Again, the older woman came over and huffed and puffed that I dare to ask a question or be slightly confused. Once I picked a green tea another young person behind the counter literally yelled at me that it would be an up-charge. I have absolutely no problem paying for what I ask for, but would it be possible to do it in a more polite way. Lastly, I am not condemning this place on its product because their product is really good! I also recognize that people have off days and maybe the older woman was dealing with some type of personal problem. I will visit again and I will update...
Read moreSpent the day in Lewes last Saturday and stopped in here for a coffee around 230 pm. I stood in a long line and waited for over 15 minutes just to order. There was only one guy working behind the counter. The entire time I waited other customers were entering the store behind me. Because of the long line that eventually stretched to the back door and ridiculously long wait I saw at least 30 people change their minds and walk out of the store before I even made it to the counter.
All I wanted was an iced coffee. Everyone in front of me was ordering specialty drinks that had to be blended, etc which of course takes alot more time. Finally a guy who was somewhere in the back came out and starting helping the solo counter person.
The other thing I had a big issue with is there were NO prices listed for anything they sell on their chalkboard. Not their drinks, pastries, nothing. You have NO idea how much anything costs unless you ask the counter person. What's that about?! I want to know the prices of things before I purchase them. Am I the only person in this economy who has to be careful how I spend my hard-earned money? My choices are often determined in advance by the price of something.
The only positive thing about my experience here was that the coffee was good.
Otherwise this was a horrible experience. On a beautiful sunny mid -October Saturday in a town busy with tourists how can you have ONE person working behind the counter at a coffee shop?
In the very short time I was there they lost alot of business. Someone in Lewes obviously needs to open another coffee shop with a full staff, good service and price...
