ruined our night on 2/22/2020 my wife and I went to this Lewisville location she ordered the chicken fried chicken w/ double hashbrown casserole . I ordered the 4 peice fried chicken w/ mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. my chicken came out I picked up a wing and the wing was completely dehydrated. the other peices was old and Luke warm and smelled like it been sitting for quite a while. my wife cfc was hard inside along with the hashbrown casserole. the major problem though was the 4PC chicken this stuff should not have been sent out to a customer. now I'm not just throwing a complaint out there I'm serious about this. I cook and bake for a living for customers been doing it for 17 years the kitchen I'm in almost every day so nobody can tell me that chicken was in a condition to be sent out to a customer table. that should have never left the window. I use to cook at cracker barrel so I know that kitchen personally. I know what's made In house and what's not. that is pre cooked chicken that's brought up to temp probably in the oven or maybe the deep fryer dosent matter. I don't have a problem with the product being pre cooked I have a problem with being charged over $30 for 2 meals that wasn't worth it. then the waitress she wasn't very friendly at all she never smiled not 1 time. so on our way out we told the manager about the food he says really I just made that chicken like 30mins ago. I said no sir we been here over a hour so if you made chicken 30 mins ago that's not the chicken I received. he said oh ok by the way he said sorry about that. as a manager he never offered to take the item off our bill or a discount nothing I didn't even respond further. see if he had offered the discount or something else I could respect that. he never smiled he showed no true care for situation my wife shook her head I said dont worry. I told my are you sure you want to go eat at this restaurant she said yes. I was already skeptical about it knowing from working in one before, but I went in anyway for her. it was only about 7:45 so it's not like they was about to close. they just served me old chicken that's been sitting under a light for god knows how long. I ate me mashed potatoes and macaroni. the waitress walked past our table then she stepped back and said oh do you need boxes I said no this chicken old, dry and smells like old oil. she offered to give me more chicken I said oh no I'm not even taking that chance I know how that goes in restaurants. besides the whole experience was a turn off I didn't want any other food from back there. it's my fault though because I was skeptical about going in there to begin with and I went anyway that 1 on me. you live and you learn never again. my advice to this restaurant we are all in this culinary field. dont send a customer nothing you wouldn't eat yourself just because you are a franchise dosent mean you wont feel the affect down the line. it starts with the cook probably sending out something that a manager pushes you to send out so I understand the pressure you be under sometimes. the waitress maybe can catch it not guaranteed but its possible. I posted a picture at the table before we ordered the food. you guys have do better dont serve food like that anymore...
Read more1st time at a Cracker Barrel. Walking in I was immediately overwhelmed by so much "stuff" everywhere. I suppose if you're there to shop for something and not eat you could easily find something! I'm not sure if the person checking us in to wait for a table was late for getting her break or just having a bad day, but seemed miserable to be there. Not good for first impressions, but perhaps that's on the manager. Luckily we were called within a few minutes telling us our table was ready and proceeded to the cheerful hostess stand and were seated immediately. Waitress greeted us shortly after being seated and took our drink orders. That gave us the time to view the menu and talk. Within 10 minutes she was back to take our food orders. She was pleasant while it was very busy. Food took about 15 minutes. I ordered pot roast with mashed potatoes and country green beans as my side. I tried the mashed potatoes 1st and to my surprise they were cold. Not ice cold, but room temperature cold. Trying both the pot roast and the green beans they definitely were warm. Tried the center of the potatoes and they were warm as well. Just a fluke on the outer edges thankfully. All was good! As we were walking through the store to exit I paused for a moment to determine which direction to go that would be easiest for me to avoid feeling trapped as I felt upon entry. Unfortunately a store employee took that as a sign I was wanting to shop. She nicely advised me that there were good discounts going on if I was interested in shopping. I thanked her and proceeded to the exit. Loved all the rockers out front for people to sit comfortably while they waited for their tables. But found it odd that they had hanging tags on them. Took a closer look - 😯 Over $200 for a "technically used" rocker. As far as I'm concerned I think they need a better marketing strategy for their merchandise area! I probably wouldn't choose to go back, but glad to say I gave it a try and it just wasn't my cup of tea! Have a...
Read moreI love this Cracker Barrel! They are homely and the food and waiters and waitresses have been fantastic for the 10+ years I have been eating here. Some of their portions sizes have been reduced over the years but not in a bad way. Their menu is more price friendly than most places with better quality food. Think Texas home cooked meal but in a restaurant. That is this Cracker Barrel. I've only had one problem most recently being accommodated for an appropriate sized table. My family of 5 and myself having obvious physical medical equipment, we called ahead to assess space and seating along with wait times so we could plan accordingly. We had been assured that everything would be taken care of and that there was no wait. Surely as promised there was no wait! However, we were seated at a table far too small for us to be at ease. After two requests to be moved to a larger table we were offered a smaller table which made no sense, and then offered the same sized table in a different location. Seeing as to how it was dinner hour at around 6pm we were confused as to why we were restricted from proper seating. We stayed and hurried through our meal as it was getting late, and the drive alone to an equally desired restaurant was far. The food was great just the seating was uncomfortable. After eating we enjoyed all of the beautiful decorations throughout the little country store up front. They have a variety of things from candies to kids toy gifts and at this time of year they have winter selections from sweater to trees and really things you wouldn't have even thought you needed but just absolutely love. (Good place to shop if you have the extra money to spend!) We adored this one decoration stand in particular. Very cute...
