My dad and his gf came to Lewisville to visit my husband and I. They were craving empanadas, something they can’t find in their hometown, and we landed on Millo’s. I’ve lived in Lewisville for years and have never been, so I was excited to try a new spot.
We walked in, and the hostess Maria asked us if we spoke Spanish, as the menu is entirely in Spanish—no, we don’t (I speak a little from living in TX for so long, but my dad and his gf know very little aside from ‘hola’ & ‘gracias’) But this wasn’t an issue!
Maria used her knowledge of English and took some time to translate a few of the popular items on the menu, and I helped my Gen X family use Google Lens to translate the menu.
We ordered empanadas, fried plantains, tacos Benji con Birria, and shawarma. Each dish was so delicious!
Maria also let us know about a salsa & merengue band that would be playing later in the evening, so we decided to come back later that night to enjoy it! And WOW! You guys really made us feel so welcomed in this space where we were engulfed in a culture entirely different from our own.
In the evening, a young lady came by to take our drink order, but she didn’t know English. She went and grabbed our new friend Maria who helped us take our drink orders. AND THEN! For some reason we got 3 small passionfruit margaritas delivered to our table on the house.
The band playing that night engaged with us, speaking English here and there to keep us included in their words to the audience, and they were so thankful for my dad and his gf who got up to dance along to the music. The owner of the restaurant even came up to sing a song and gave us a little shout out.
The singers from the band also came over to introduce themselves to each of us, and showed us a little dance move to groove along with next time.
In a place where we may have been uncomfortable due to a language and culture barrier, we were welcomed with open arms and enthusiastic staff. I cannot tell you guys how much this experience meant to me and my family.
I let my husband know how much he missed out on, so we’ll be back for more on our next date night.
I certainly don’t expect this VIP treatment from any establishment, but it truly became the highlight of the visit I had with my dad who lives all the way in Ohio.

Read more🥺 one displeasure! Be forth coming about prices ! There is nothing listed for cost, but a $20 dish is insane for dip and dive attached to a valero. You order, receive cost, and feel obligated to purchase. Absolutely everything was out of this world as far as food and service . I had the aripas with chicken that were delicious. $15 max for that dish! Great one time experience but certainly wouldn't go out of my way to pay fine dining at a grab and go that's a 20x20 restaurant again . Call me cheap .... but there's plenty of ways to fill my belly with authentic food at a more realistic cost. Don't get me wrong... again...it's a wonderful one-time experience. However, at the prices , I will not revisit. Good luck. I'm only one honest review, and I'm sure you're still doing well....
Read moreI'm giving it 2 stars because the food was half decent but way over priced. My husband had a hamburger that cost $17 and my mom and I each had a patacon with carne mechada which cost $14 each. Ridiculous prices truly. This isn't a fine dining and there weren't even French fries or drink included with each entrée. Also, the papelón was $5 for a small bottle of sugar water with lime essentially. We paid $62 for the dinner for 3 people. We could have gone to Chili's and ate more and cheaper. That's the first and last time my family and I eat there unless they announce they have cheaper prices, then we...
