Our favorite go-to legitimate Cajun food location for years and years. I grew up in Acadiana in deep South Louisiana. I know my Cajun food and how it must taste.
Last week to celebrate a birthday, I called and ordered 10 pounds of boiled crawfish and a loaf of that perfect Gambino’s French bread. The crawfish came with 5 potatoes and 5 corn on the cob. For those that are used to eating boiled crawfish, this was enough to feed 4 of us. Granted we certainly could have eaten more.
As always the crawfish were perfectly seasoned even though a tad small though it could just be that time of the season. As usual you will typically get a $1 per pound off if you order 10 pounds or more. $4.99 a pound is a good price here compared to other restaurants where $8 or $9 per pound is just ludicrous.
And that Gambino’s bread is the real deal. Toasted up In the oven the outside crust gets a crispy texture while the inside is perfect and soft.
If you go there definitely try one of their poboys. The oyster poboy is our favorite.
And they also stock and sell some essential Cajun foods you just can’t find locally. They have a list of items on their website on the menu. Those Natchitoches meat pies and crawfish pies are so good. I recommend you definitely give Bayou Market a visit. You...

I cracked open a tray of what they claimed was Cajun seafood and was greeted with overcooked, battle-hardened crawfish that fought back harder than a junkyard dog. It was like trying to extract meat from a dead lobster that just got out of prison — tough, dirty, and smelled like vengeance.
Let’s not forget the bonus snails thrown in for free — because who doesn’t love a surprise funeral in their food? Half of them looked like they’d been dug up from a ditch behind a gas station. This wasn’t seafood — this was a swamp crime scene.
The meat? Mushy, dark, and tasted like regret. I’ve had better texture chewing on a flip-flop. Crawfish are supposed to snap, not sag like wet newspaper.
Bayou Market used to have some heat, but now they’re serving this disappointment with a side of shame. If this place was any more washed-up, it’d be on a reality show about failed restaurants.
Meanwhile, Big Fish over in Grapevine? That’s how you do crawfish. One bite and the tail slides out cleaner than a Sunday confession. They treat their seafood with respect — not like it’s part of an autopsy report.

Read moreGlad to have located Pattons hot sausage. Food was pretty good, but service not so much. The cook had more personality and customer service skills from the kitchen than the cashier who kept eating crackers..... Was told there was no ice or water, had to have bottled water. I ordered turkey necks, potatoes, and corn from the menu. We also had a catfish dinner and a hot sausage po'boy. The cashier brought me 2 turkey necks. After a while I went to the counter and asked about the corn and potatoes. The cook was all too happy to complete the order for me, the cashier on the other hand said the turkey necks were usually not as big as they were today and said they're normally $3.50 each. I'm confused as to why she's telling me this. I finally figured it out- she with held the other items because the turkey necks were larger than usual. Wow! The next customer that came in sat down with water in cups, I can only assume they also had ice too. Another woman came in and complained (graciously) that the sack of crawfish shed bought that was supposed to be 8 lbs was actually just under 7. Hummmmm..... you...
