Between my mother and I, we have lived in this complex for over five years. We have been through a few different management companies, and they all do things differently. But the one remaining constant is, that nothing gets done as promised. The new managment team is much more friendly than the last though, I will say that much. But there are still multiple issues in my apartment that have been repeatedly ignored for over three years now, and I am not happy in this complex any longer, haven't been for quite a while. To start, when my mother first moved in over five years ago, the carpet was old and should have been replaced. She was told then that she would have to wait at least a year to qualify for new carpet. Then last year, before the new management company took over, we were promised new carpet yet again. Haven't heard a word about it since. The carpet we have now is close to 10 years old. Then, the water damage...ohhhh the water damage. The upstairs apartment's kitchen flooded two years ago twice, and it came down in to my apartment through the utility closet in the kitchen. And it wrecked shop on the sheet rock. Instead of replacing the sheet rock, or even having the water damage mitigated and dried professionally, they just painted over it. The sheet rock is still soft to this day, and it looks awful. And I promise you this...pull that sheet rock out and you will discover mold for sure. Another issue that we have had for years now, is the shower fixtures are leaking behind the wall. As a consequence, the tiles are starting to pull away from the wall, and my bathroom always smells of mold. Also in the shower, the fixtures are so old, that the calcium from the water has literally eaten away some of the metal. It is awful looking, and very embarrassing when I have company come over. Also, the tub is so old, that the resurfacing that they did before my mom moved in is wearing off, and old nasty stains are starting to appear on the bottom of it. There is also water damage around the windows in the spare room from the leaking window frames that were supposed to be fixed two years ago and never were. None of the doors leading in to the apartment, front and back, come even close to sealing. You can see daylight through both of them when they are shut. As a consequence of that, my electric bill is through the roof in the winter and summer time. All of these issues have been brought to the attention of the previous management companies, and nothing was ever done about them. Only false promises. I guess that's why I never brought it up to the new company. I figured, what's the point. I am to the point now to where I just want nothing more than to get out of these apartments. Way too many unresolved problems, my truck has been broke in to twice, I wont have company come over anymore, and my rent still goes up every single year. To be honest, I have never been a big fan of leaving bad reviews for anything, but this situation is beyond ridiculous, and I just felt the need to put my thoughts down on here so that either this new company will start to honor some of the outstanding and egregious issues that so many of the tenants like my self are having....or help prevent someone else from having to endure to frustration and disappointment that my mother and i have had to suffer through. In over five years, we have never been late on rent not one single time. You would think in this area of town, that would hold some weight with these management companies? But clearly...painfully clearly...it does not. Right now, I just can't...
Read moreThis is a decent place for the price you pay. Very average apartments. Nothing too fancy so you can't get your hopes too high. If you are needing somewhere not as expensive as the rest, this is an okay option.
The best part of this place is the maintenance team. Great guys who work hard. Definitely get to know them. We lived here during the bulk of the pandemic and it was a nice place to live.
The most frustrating things for us was this-
The management seems to be unorganized at times. Nice people, they don't intend to make you frustrated. When we moved out I provided my forwarding address about 3 different times (over the phone, on our move out form, and on a sticky note which I handed to the assistant manager) but they still couldn't hold onto it to send us our final statement. I should have nagged and held up with getting that, so that's on me, but we never did receive it. The only way I knew I still owed them a relatively small amount of money is when Rent Recovery Solutions contacted me. Obviously they had my forwarding address because they were able to provide to them.
When we moved out there were things I knew we had left slightly damaged so I expected those to come out of our deposit. The one strange thing was our deal with the carpet.
We had scheduled a final walk through which was interestingly missed by the management and we had to move so they did it without us there. I did take a call when we moved and talked about it. The strange thing was we were told the carpet looked "overly walked on." I asked if we would be charged for that and was told no. I just thought it was a strange thing to say. After all, we had lived there during a pandemic, so the excessive walking was to be expected. I didn't think much about it, but the reason that we owed a little bit of money was because they did charge for new carpet. The carpet fee was not very much.. which is probably why it wears out so fast.
All in all, I'm not upset about it. It's just frustrating that I left them my forwarding address three times and the way I found out about all this was through a third party. If I had owed a lot of money, I would have been more upset.
So follow up until you get annoying about those things, or else you might find out you owe them money a year later.
I hope this review helps people. It's a budget place so have budget expectations. Be patient but direct in getting answers from them. They serve a lot of people but the lack of communication and issues involved with that can be...
Read moreI lived at The Glen (Hampton Bay when I was there) for a year and a half. When we first leased the place it took quite a bit of time to actually see the apartment we would be residing in. Upon moving in we pointed out things that needed to be fixed. Little things for the most part but i think the biggest of all was the water damage in the kitchen cabinets. We told them everything that was wrong and nothing happened. Only after calling them to complain did they fix the issues. One problem with that: the water damage in the cabinet. Instead of getting rid of the mold and fixing the problem they just put some wood on top of it, spray painted it to match and then that was all. Apart from that hiccup everything else was just about great until the roaches showed up. Let me tell you, we were clean people but don't get up in the middle of the night for some water because you will encounter many roaches. We were put on the list to get sprayed every month but nothing changed. We had "pet" roaches until we moved out. The apartment was updated but still overpriced for a small one bedroom. I would say that the best part about this place was the amenities. The two pools were always open and not overcrowed with children. The gym and hot tub were great and well maintained and the tennis court was nice but you do have to get a key to use it. Actually the complex (which is small) was very well maintained. You could always count on the landscapers every Tuesday. The neighbors were nice and kept to themselves but depending on where you live there will be kids playing outside but is that really a bad thing? I really can't say that I would recommend it but it really wasn't the worst place. Hopefully you won't get a unit infested with roaches. Also, the staff is very friendly. No...
