Just so you know, I don’t write bad reviews EVER. However, i feel like Lexington needs to be warned. My family of 5 went to brunch here on a Saturday at 12 pm. We had never been before and thought we would support a new local business. We waited 35 minutes to be sat which was no big deal and we were happy to do- it was Saturday and lunch time at a new local restaurant, this is to be expected. Once sat, and ordered, we waited FOURTY MINUTES for our food with zero apology or explanation. 40 minutes for BREAKFAST FOOD. Once our food FINALLY arrived they still didn’t have my sons food ready. So we sat and waited some more and I finally just gave him some of mine because he was so hungry he was in tears (he is 6)
The actual food was fine, not great. Not better than Eggs Up Grill in Lexington. The portion sizes on the kids meals we’re LAUGHABLE. The pancakes were silver dollar pancakes and there were 3. I’m not sure one whole egg was used on their scrambled eggs. The bacon was one slice that had been split onto each of my other kids plates. We added cheese to our kids eggs and it was an up charge of $1 PER KID PER DISH it was added to. Each of their tiny meals was $8 due to this And that is not including the extra side of cheese grits we had to order for each kid because the portions were so stupid. It became more like $11 per kid. For a 3, 6, and 8 year old. So dumb.
My husband ordered the biscuit sandwich and asked to add bacon which was an up charge (🙄) but then they brought his biscuit with none. We asked for the bacon we had ordered and they brought one piece broken in half to look like two. No joke. And the MANAGER brought that to our table. Unashamed of this.
Our brunch for my family of 5 where we ordered 3 kids meals, two entrées, and everyone drank water was $70. The price is Asinine. The experience was miserable.
It felt like someone was trying to run a business in the absolute cheapest way possible and like they had NO intention of guests ever returning for a second visit.
It felt cheap and like we just got taken to the cleaners. It was like they were rationing food! I have never experienced anything like it.
Just go to Eggs up. It’s better. It’s cheaper. It’s faster. It’s more food...
Read moreWe’ve eaten at other locations and this place has some kinks to work out. I hope they accept and try to implement honest feedback. First, they are not using the Yelp waitlist like other locations before them. Yelp puts you on the waitlist and shows you your place in line; the Yelp waitlist is very accurate and very helpful when planning with young kids. They are using their own system now and it’s not accurate, as we waited 15 minutes beyond our quoted time; their system gives you a time frame and doesn’t show you your place in line and says it will remove you from the waitlist if you don’t check in ten minutes before your quoted time (which is given in a range and doesn’t tell you if it’s ten minutes after the earlier part of the range or later). The woman in front of me was a walk up and kept getting “bumped down” the list as people signed up online like I did; she was very upset and left and I would have done the same thing. They need to go back to using the Yelp system because their system is inaccurate and inconvenient. Second, the food took way too long; we waited over 45 minutes for our meal and we have very young children who can’t sit for that long. The seating was backed up and the kitchen was backed up. Service was slow. Other breakfast locations is the area would have had us seated and out two times over for the time we spent there. My meal was very good, but my husband complained his was cold and unimpressive and my daughter’s pancakes were dry and overcooked. And the flies!! There were house flies and tiny gnats/ fruit flies everywhere. My husband was not impressed and refuses to go back. I think we will give them another 3-6 months before going back to work out the kinks. In the meantime, I would have this location have seasoned staff from other locations in the area work there for at least a few weeks to train up the staff to get a better system going. Hopefully they will have a better system in the next few months. Slow service and mediocre food won’t last around here. I love Not Another Broken Egg but this location needs to work out the kinks...

2nd Time trying Another Broken Egg Cafe (a few days later)
So since the Manager offered to give me a $15 gift card for the horrible food on my first time trying Another Broken Egg Cafe, I decided to use it for lunch the following Monday. The Manager failed to write my name down and the staff had to call him when I arrived to confirm which took time. As I waited the hostess and waitress was cleaning the blackboard they took down at the hostess stand which is a very small area and there were dirty wipes all over the floor and the blackboard crowded the already cramped entrance. After a few minutes one of the employees stated to me that they are still trying to get a hold of the manager. I told her to cancel my order I placed and stated that it was unprofessional how the entrance looked with the wipes everywhere.
After I left I called the same location to speak to the manager working to let them know I did not appreciate how they handled things there. When the hostess notified the manager I was on the phone she did not put me on hold and I can hear everything she was saying to the manager and it was not professional. She stated "I think its that lady that just left".
When I spoke to the manager I simply stated the facts listed above and that "EGGS UP" will prevail because their staff is trained, food is excellent. You know exactly what you are getting each visit. The value it there and no bad surprises. Therefore I know it can be done but his location/business will not be open in two year, which is sad because we all want new restaurants in Lexington but damn they got to...
