I come to Books a Million every day to study for my classes. I have had two extremely horrible experiences here. First my study partner was in search of a trash can and some lady with a partially shaved head ran up on her and started fussing at her for where she threw her trash away, she apparently was a manager. Well one this was our first time here two she could have been way nicer about the way she handled it with my friend. Second time is today. The store manager I am guessing whom has red hair. Her voice is fairly loud I can even hear her over my head phones. Well today of all days while studying for finals. She feels the need to scold a Employee whom is working behind the coffee counter thing. The conversation she is having with him should have been conducted in an office with closed doors. I heard the entire thing over my head phones. This is not the proper way to discuss an issue with one of your employees. This conversation of fussing at him literally continued for fifteen minutes. The employee she is fussing with out in the open about his work ethic or whatever. He is the nicest one who works at this establishment. Everyone else who is typically here in the afternoons besides him is just beyond unbearable. They are rude, unhelpful and just plan rude. My study partner and I are well aware of what time this places closes you do not have to come up to us repetitively and tell us. If I did not pay for this stupid membership and another books a million was closer. That is...
Read moreI'm never disappointed when I visit Books-A-Million on the amount of products they have, but on the price. A lot of items are very expensive, but no more expensive than other retailers, though likely more expensive than Amazon. I am disappointed that their horror selection is overcrowded by Stephen King. I realize the man is a legendary writer, but he saturates the genre with a plethora of titles. I would really like to see a wider variety of authors.
Collectible items are everywhere, such as Beetlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas stuff, but it is well overpriced due to the popularity of the season. It did give me some good ideas on decor I'd love to incorporate, though.
Journals, notebooks, and planners are always fun to browse, but again, they are expensive. I even like their knick knacks, which I will normally buy a bookmark or two.
Finally, I have to shout out to the manager a little bit. She dealt with a belligerent woman that didn't like that she was busy when she asked her to go to the front counter to ask one of the employees that was in front of a computer to look up a book, as she had no way to do so halfway to the back in the middle of the floor. This lady became rude and nasty, yelling obscenities and attempting to make her 'importance' to be served clear. It was highly immature, and I just hope the manager is doing well after...
