Decided to give Bellis a try today around 3-4 pm. We had a total of 4 different people "serve" us. So 1st one, a new server who said it was her first day. I found it odd she was working alone her first day. And while I dont expect her to know the menu, there were FOUR specials and she didnt have a clue. (Helpful hint: write them down if you need to) after she decided she couldnt help us she sent another person... This person was very knowledgeable but informed us she wasnt the server. She sent in the next, who had obviously been there a while. And then another because I guess there was a shift change. It was like a whirlwind. However they we're all smiling, friendly and outgoing! Now... On to the food! If you're still with me at this point let me say I am less impressed with the food than the wait staff. I am very familiar with Americanized Greek and Italian cuisine and this food wasnt doing it for me. I had the Lasagna. The sauce was good but almost over flowing out of the dish. No cheese baked on top. Im not 100% sure the dish was baked maybe microwaved. Pasta "crepes" ( their description not mine- in my experience referred to as sheets) were VERY tasty. Ricotta filling was dry but tasty. We also ordered a small house pizza. We informed our server we wanted this item as an appetizer. Well she said she went to the bathroom and forgot to put in the order so it came out last. She also overheard us trying to decide on toppings, informed us we could do half and half and then got that incorrect. The pizza was soggy and greasy on the bottom. All toppings come off in first bite which Im guessing has to do with being undercooked and again like the lasagna overloaded. All in all, while the staff was kind, I felt like I walked into The Twighlight Zone: Restaurant Edition. PLEASE NOTE: TO ANY ONE WHO READS ALL OF THIS , WE INFORMED STAFF OF THESE ISSUES AT...
Read moreSecond time trying. First was steak kabobs. Just okay. Greek potatoes were tasteless and over cooked. Pleasant waitress that visit. Next time had spaghetti. Don't know why it's even on the menu. Once again, tasteless. Salad boring. Garlic bread? People-- bread is not that expensive! One little slice with absolutely no garlic or butter. Basically toast. Asked for them to please add garlic butter.. brought the same piece back to me. Wow. Spaghetti was watery from probably not draining pasta to the point I had to use napkins to try to soak up the excess water. Waitresses seemed like they were not really interested in some customers. Don't understand all the high reviews. If you can't make it edible, don't sell it. I can pour a jar of Ragu that tastes better, and doesn't cost $12.00. Lesson learned.I understand costs are high, but if your quality and quantity sucks, what's the point. August 4, 2022: Decided to give it another try. BAD decision. Still watery spaghetti. (DRAIN THE PASTA !) Once again, bread with absolutely no butter or garlic, though it's called "garlic bread" on the menu. Never been to an Italian restaurant that had garlic nowhere to be found. When I asked the waitress for garlic butter, her response? "Our butter is already melted Sorry". Really? Umm... okay... This translates to "too bad". Again paid over $12.00 for food I left most of behind. Hopefully the memory too. Bellis, you do realize that even McDonald's will correct an incorrect order! Never in my life have I left without tipping at least 20 percent, but today was that day. It was pretty obvious that by the time a few more customers arrived, service was dependent upon party size and who may tip best. I have worked in many decent restaurants, as a server and manager. Never have I not corrected an order for a customer if it were not up to their...
Read moreI dine at Bellis about once per week. My experience last night was one of the worst. I will preface my statements by saying there are several waitresses that have been there a long time and they work hard and do everything they can to take care of their customers. Sherry is one of the best! The food is also always good.
The management of the front of the house needs a lot of work. The middle-aged woman whom I assume is the front-end manager and also who was wearing a tan shirt last night and wears her reading glasses on her head is rude and dies not have proper management or leadership skills. She is all over the place.
When I entered the restaurant last night at 6:30, I was told there would be about a 20 minute wait, which was not surprising for a Friday night. My 29 minute wait turned into a 45 minute wait with absolutely no apologies. Clean tables sat empty while she was wrapping silverware, running the cash register, and serving alcohol. For busy nights last night, there needs to be a dedicated hostess to ensure guests are properly seated.
While multiple tables sat empty, three and four tables were being seated at the same time, which only causes more work for the waitresses and also causes back-ups in the kitchen. I waited for almost 40 additional minutes for my food after I placed my order and my fries were room temperature at best.
As a customer, I expect the best service because during today's bad economy, ai am very selective of where ai spend my well-earned money. Spending more than $20 for a single meal that was nearly cold is unacceptable and dealing with a rude front-end manager/hostess is even more so.
I sincerely hope that these issues can be addressed because I usually enjoy dining here, but I also expect to have a positive experience when doing so and last night...
