I can't tell you how long I've been going to Don Juan's. I'm a lexington native originally but live a county away now. It's a 40 minute drive but we still go every so often. The chimichanga is still one of the best I ever had with beef tips as well as the cheese dip. Not a long wait for a Thursday evening at 6pm. A party of 4 was taken right back as the parking lot was getting full. Parking is okay if it's not one of those really busy evenings where you may have to wait. Don't come at 7 and expect to get a seat right away if it's Friday or Saturday just saying from experience. Located a couple miles from I85 and the business loop but not terrible if your traveling just worth the little few minutes.

I used to live in Kernersville and ate at the Don Juan there. This one is a notch down from Kernersville but still a few notches above the average Mexican restaurant. Today, service was the highlight, food coming in second. It could have had a more polished presentation and more seasoning. Overall it was good, but I was hoping for great. The atmosphere is good and you can have a conversation over lunch without yelling across the table. Prices are good especially for the portion size. I'll come back.

We went to this restaurant when we first moved to Lexington 5 years ago. It was overpriced and we decided not to go back. We thought we would give it another try. Once again, overpriced and not to par with other Mexican restaurants involving flavors and quality of food. Lexington Mexican restaurants need to get it together. Mi Casa is overpriced and blah as well. **Don't order the Chile con queso unless you expect to eat a tortilla with a scoop of cheese on it.

If this is great Mexican food, then I'm a Mexican monkeys uncle with a sombrero (which I am not)! The BoyFriend and I went there for lunch, for the first time, thinking it would be a nice change from our usual pizza joint. The atmosphere is very nice, a little dimly lit, makes you feel like you're in Mexico. That's all bueno, but... I ordered a Dr. Pepper without ice, and BF ordered an iced tea. The waiter brought our drinks, but his ICED tea was ice-less! (I ordered no ice; BF didn't!) Then we placed our orders: BF beef burrito (comes with shredded beef, lettuce, cheese, and guacamole) with rice and beans. ME chicken enchilada (comes with lettuce, cheese, and guac) with rice and beans. Our orders come, and they lay a plate of chicken wrapped in corn tortillas, with green salsa over it, in front of me, and a chicken enchilada ,with the red sauce over it, in front of BF. I said to the waiter I didn't order this with corn tortillas, I want it in a flour tortilla with red enchilada sauce! Also informed him of the mistake with BF meal; being chicken, not beef, and having red sauce when it's a burrito! The waiter took BF plate away, and I took the enchilada from him; as it was clearly what I ordered. After waiting for them to fix BF order the waiter brought out his meal, and a plate of two tiny deep fried tortilla chips sprinkled in cinnamon and sugar with whipped cream, and drizzled in chocolate sauce! Nice gesture, but come on! Two tiny chips garnished with fake topping doesn't compensate for the mistakes so far... bring out some deep fried ice cream, and we'll talk! I then asked for a side of sour cream; which was brought out in a plastic "to go" container... TACKY! Well, then the waiter brought us both refills of our drinks. Again, nice gesture but no Mexican cigar! As I am sipping on my soda I notice a clear round object sticking up above the surface of the liquid. ( I received this drink BEFORE any problems had occurred!) I show BF and asked if he put the lid from my sour cream container in it as a joke... He said no, and pointed to the lid laying on the table. I pulled it out of my drink, and the waiter came to the table. I showed him the lid and asked why this is in my drink?? He then apologized and took the bill off the table. He came back and said he took the drinks off the bill. I said, "No sir, we aren't paying for ANY of this! The service was unacceptable, the orders were both wrong, and there was a plastic lid in my drink! I don't want to pay for it!" My BF and I proceeded to get up, and walk out the door RA'PIDO!! We did manage to eat some of our meals. BF said his was not shredded beef, but GROUND BEEF, no lettuce, cheese, or guacamole to be found. It was salty, and just blah. My meal did have shredded chicken, but it was dry, no seasonings, no lettuce, cheese or guacamole either. (The menu says it comes with these!) NOT!! The refried beans were obviously canned, the rice was under cooked; had hard spots in it, and the salsa with the chips was basically tomato sauce absolutely no cilantro or seasonings in it! I would definitely NOT return to this mediocre establishment again. I am completely disappointed in the cheap use of ingredients (or lack there of). Really... GROUND BEEF??? They should re-name this joint "DON JUAN GONE...

I give this such a low rating because they charged me for two top shelf Margaritas instead of one I only had one. I called it to their attention. And the manager give me a real attitude. Didn't say Sorry about the mistake. Just said I'll change the bill with an Indensnt attitude .Well I gave the tip on a $38 bill and I wanted it revised to the lower cost .He said well indignantly I can just take the tip off .. I said okay . If you're going to be nasty about it I'm not going to pay a tip for attitude and he was obviously mad about it. I Don't go to get dinner to get an attitude . He was obviously mad about it. I said well it doesn't show up on my bank account record it shows up as the previous price not as the adjustment Price He said it will be in a couple of days. And then just walked off no sorry nothing. Now I don't even know if they gave me the top chef margarita. When you can't trust people you doubt everything they do from there on. Including adjusting the bill because my bank account did not reflect it. I thought Don Juan's in Lexington was a good place to eat. But I don't want to go somewhere where I get an attitude. You are obviously mad because you have to adjust the bill. Besides the food is just mediocre in the first place. If you go there you better watch your bill. His attitude the managers attitude was snody. No sorry no nothing.I can check on my bank statement whether or not it has been changed so far it hasn't been. Probably won't be. I don't know if this is a common practice of theirs to overcharge people for things they did not get, but they overcharged me and then we're snotty about it when I brought it to their attention. And got...

I went to Don Juan’s with my husband. He ordered his usual and I decided I just wanted beef and bean nachos. I told the waiter what I wanted. When they brought out our order, I had nachos with minimal cheese and only beans. I’m like, where’s the beef? So, the waiter brings out a bowl of beef and sits it beside me. Instead of remaking it. Anyway, I put the beef on the nachos because I don’t like to complain. My husband noticed my look of disappointment. He said I can’t watch you look that way. He says to the waiter, she needs cheese on those nachos. (I only had beans and beef at this point. Not enough cheese because he did not bring out the correct nachos). So he brings me a small cheese bowl. I put it on my so called nachos. (They were cold by the time I got to actually start eating them). Well, we finished and the guy brings out the bill. My husband pays as I stand back. I have no idea the price at this point. When we got home, I asked how much was the bill, he said $37! I’m like, what?!? He said that’s with the tip. Well, my nachos were suppose to be $7.59. He charged me extra for the beef and the cheese. It was an additional $7. We paid for his screw up. Pretty much $15 for beef and bean nachos. I’m so aggravated. I’ve had problems before but I always let it slide. I’m disappointed with this whole situation. I can’t...
