At her request, I texted the girl taking my order 2 pictures of what I wanted. One to show the color/texture of the frosting, one to show the shape. The cake really looked nothing like what we had discussed. It was sloppily decorated. The special single cupcake for my 2 year old daughter's birthday was a plain vanilla cupcake with a white liner, white icing and a dusting of pink glitter. She knew it was Minnie mouse themed, but said she couldn't do any fondant, or any extras for ears, bows, etc.
When I picked up the cake I asked a girl behind the counter the best way to keep it fresh until the next day (refrigerate, leave out in room temp, etc). She said, "You can just leave it out, I think that's what Linda said". I replied "Can you double check with her, I don't want to make anyone sick, and keep it moist" She said "Well, I think someone said that, I'm just not sure who it was." Okay, not too helpful.
Also, I fully support hiring young workers, but when it comes to things like bridal shower cakes, special birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc, we rely on the staff to be well-educated about their products, and skilled at baking, and decorating. Have these younger girls been trained about gluten free option items? Food allergies? Safe food handling?
Finally, I was disappointed with how the cupcakes turned out, sloppily decorated, and dry. I'm not that picky of a person, and I hate to leave a negative review, but Fancy Pastry could use a little help. I doubt I use them again for my future...
Read moreOrdered 2 dozen cupcakes for my daughter’s baby shower. This is my 1st grandchild so this is extra special. We have used Fancy Pastry for years now and no real issues. When I called to make the order, the young lady had absolutely no idea of what she was doing. It was also so loud behind her that I couldn’t hear. She did hear me say that I wanted his name written on some and initials on the others. Just some Forrest green cupcakes with a name. Nothing extravagant. When I went to pick them up I was absolutely heartbroken at how these looked. Just some plain cupcakes with clumpy green icing that wasn’t even mixed properly because there was still a lot of white showing. I was told by I’m guessing who was the manager that they “ don’t write on cupcakes”. I asked why did her employee say they did? No answer. $43 for cupcakes I could have had made myself for maybe $8!!! I even asked the lady if this is the kind of product that she wants her business known by. I’m not a Karen and never will be. I just don’t like it when people are taken advantage of. The absolute kicker though.. they were some of the driest cupcakes I’ve ever eaten!!! Out of 24, 16 were brought home so…. I blame myself though. Some local private baker would have been happy to take the order and they would have taken pride in their work. All Fancy Pastry has become is nostalgic. I’d be extremely surprised if they last another decade. Especially with products like these.. that’s just my opinion...
Read moreThis was a place I stumbled on while looking for a cake. The place I stopped by first did not have any cakes so I asked Google for a bakery. This bakery came up and they had some cakes but when I got in there and starting looking they had some awesome looking brownies!!!! So I ended up buying 2 dozen brownies and a dozen white cake square. The lady gave me the cost about $10 more than I was quoted. She was ringing them up per brownie or cake square. I was quoted a price per dozen which was cheaper. The lady was so nice when I brought it to her attention that she offered to refund the difference but I asked could she give me a dozen cupcakes and she did. I thought that would be easier than doing a credit card refund. Now to reveal how good they were. They were the "bomb". They were awesome! The 🍰 squares were so light tasting and good. I don't have any left to show you a picture of them but the pictures would not do it justice. I dropped the cupcake box as I was opening my front door,( but none fell out, just shifted the icing) the brownies were starting to melt and the icing was running together making it look like a BIG brownie cake. I did not want to take a picture of just the cake squares. So you have to just trust what I am saying about how awesome and good they were. So if you are ever in Lexington, NC, please try the "Fancy Pastry" you will be...
