Fat Man Reviews found its way to Paisano's Italian Restaurant & Lounge in Lexington, KY. Paisano's is an Italian restaurant serving traditional pizza & red-sauce classics plus they offer a full bar.
I started off with a cup of Minestrone soup containing green beans, corn, carrots, potatoes, celery, tomatoes and cabbage. It looked like the veggies came from a can. The soup was heavy on the Italian seasoning and had a slight bitter taste, possibly from red wine vinegar. It was different, not bad, just not my favorite.
I tried the Paisano's Sampler, including chicken Parmesan, lasagna, Italian sausage, and spaghetti with meatballs. I could tell that pretty much all of it had been made earlier and sat for a while. The Italian sausage was excellent. The casing snapped, and the flavors were great, I really enjoyed this. The chicken Parm was not bad. It was juicy, breaded and cooked well. It just tasted a little old. I could tell by the cheese on top of the lasagna it had been sitting and when cutting into it, the top layer of cheese came with it. The noodles were a bit over done, but the flavors weren't bad, and it was not dry. The meatball was a little burnt on the outside, but it was not dry just had been sitting for a while. The spaghetti was ok. The red sauce was really, wonderful. It tastes authentic, homemade, with a little sweetness, light garlic and oregano flavors, and chunky.
My fiancé tried the Baked Manicotti, large pasta noodles stuffed with ricotta cheese and topped with homemade sauce and mozzarella. The shells were overcooked and dry, the cheese was bland but fresh. The sauce again was the star and delicious.

Read moreDecember 31, 2016 At one time this was my go to place for Italian. But, all good things must come to an end. After a couple sub par experiences over the last year, I thought it was worth trying again. Big mistake.
Paisano's is locally owned. Generally that is a good thing. Not in this case. Last night around 8:00 pm I arrived at Paisano's. My friend and I had our pick of tables as there were only a couple of tables occupied. I ordered a small serving of pasta with a meatball, Italian sausage and what appeared to be a stuffed shell. Stuffed with what, I'm unsure. I had two glasses of ice water with dinner. No alcohol.
The sauce is really pretty good but, everything else is far from outstanding. Little did I know how far that was until later that night. The funny thing is (not funny ha ha) is part way through dinner I commented that I thought it strange there were so few people there. And added, that may be a bad sign. You know Friday nights are pretty busy here in Lex. for dinner. Especially, venues that serve decent food.
So, without lots of graphic detail or dramatics, I was throwing up and had diarrhea well into the next morning. Let me add, I generally have a cast iron stomach. I don't have allergies or food sensitivities. Not at all.
I don't enjoy slamming a business for any reason. Especially one locally owned. I'm more apt to tell friends and family to avoid a business and not go back. But this is...
Read more"My experience with this establishment was extremely disappointing. The order was incorrect, with an incorrect drink and a bottle of sweet tea instead of the unsweetened tea with lemon I requested. The main dish, clams with linguini, seemed to have no clams and was covered in a green puree. The Italian bread was burnt black and reheated, making it inedible, and the side salad was just a few pieces of iceberg lettuce with a single carrot sliver. The dressing was a strange mix of Italian and ranch. When I called to address the issues, the staff, including the owner and a young woman, were rude, disrespectful, and verbally aggressive. The owner screamed at me, and the young woman's attitude was completely unprofessional. This was not a situation that should have escalated, and it was a traumatic and threatening experience. I paid over $30 for a meal I could not eat and was denied a refund. The entire experience was a complete disgrace, and I will be contacting my attorney. I will never step foot in your establishment again and I encourage others to...
