I have been to this restaurant several times and always enjoyed their kale salad, which is vegan, deliciously seasoned and always had a great dressing. This time it was very mediocre and lacking its usual taste. But the worst part of the visit was at the end when we received our check I mentioned to my Friend who I was dining with that the 20% tip was already included. At this point, the bartender butted into our conversation and said, “but you can leave more!” Like we didn’t know that…. I proceeded to tell him I resented the fact that management forced us to pay the 20% up front .At Which point he started to ARGUE with me about my personal beliefs, Saying “well, that that’s how you support the restaurant industry” lol . It was none of his business how I perceive the 20% tip or more. At one point, he actually said “do you want to stop talking so that I can talk ?”If I had an employee that worked for me that made this kind of comment to a customer he’d be gone in three seconds flat.Rude, arrogant and… clueless how tipping works As is the Establishment itself. We were there on Friday After Thanksgiving around 7 o’clock. Hey management ! pay attention here. Number one you shouldn’t be automatically adding 20% to the bill. Nobody in any classy establishment ANYWHERE in the WORLD does that. Why don’t you pay your employees a living wage yourself, instead of forcing us to put up with treatment like this at your restaurant and still have to pay 20%? if the food is meh and the bartender has a bad attitude, is childish and doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut, I’m not GOING BACK. Next!!
UPDATE - The owners incredibly unapologetic, rather rude and clearly missing the point response:
Response from the owner 2 hours ago The age old argument of someone mad about having to tip. Guess what Amy, we pay all employees a living wage and they receive the 20% tip on top of that. We encourage our staff to stand up for this policy to protect themselves from patrons that don’t think they deserve respect. Good luck out there!
NO, the age-old argument about someone not wanting to leave a tip is COMPLETELY not the point, and it's pathetic that you can't comprehend what was written, read it again...! I have no problem leaving a tip and usually leave a 25% or more tip. The point is - you do not force people to TIP...and then to have an obnoxious employee run his mouth about it when he was not asked. Wow, just wow, what happened to the good old days when the owner apologized for an employee being rude? When I was a server, I would have been fired for this behavior. And then you are rude on top of it! So many other great restaurants in Lexington to...
Read moreWe are not from the area and decided to order from Pearl’s on Thursday night, around 7:30. We placed our order and it seemed expensive. Then it asked us about adding a tip, which we always do on pickup orders regardless. Once we finished the order they sent us an email saying that our order would be ready by 8:39 pm. It also showed in addition to our 20% gratuity that they had automatically added a 20% service charge!!!!!! So we basically tipped twice because they have a gratuity charge built in, with an ADDITIONAL prompt for you to add gratuity! BE CAREFUL WHEN PAYING AND CHECK YOUR BILL! That’s why it was so high. I figured that the food was hopefully going to be great, especially at that price point, and I couldn’t do anything about it now. We went to pick it up, and it wasn’t ready at 8:39. They were closing at 9:00 and said it would be 10-15 more minutes until it was ready. Our family was in the car so my husband came back to the car to wait with us. My husband went back to pick up the food and the doors were locked but they let him in. I figured they were rushing the order and I was right. Most of us do not eat dairy, and eat vegan options, while one person can have dairy and meat. He ordered the pizza special with Colcannon, corned beef, mozz, swiss, and special sauce. The pizza was basically mashed potatoes with an absolute excess of butter and no spinach, kale, or green onions like in a traditional colcannon. There was beef but not corned beef. We got one Caesar salad, because I figured we would be able to share for $10. It was very small. We ordered the Caesar dressing on the side and did not receive any, so we had to use the ranch that we paid extra for on the salad that we bought to use with the wings. The vegan pizza we ordered, we aren’t sure if it was truly vegan because several of us were up sick on Thursday night. The “breadsticks” was French bread cut up, and the Buffalo cauliflower “wings” were basically raw cauliflower in sauce. The vegan chocolate pudding was actually a mouthful of salt in every bite we attempted to eat, even after we stirred it and had to be thrown out. We were all beyond disappointed and had to throw most of the food away because it was inedible. I could not recommend this to anyone with dietary restrictions because I’m not sure they are followed. We still cannot believe we spent $120 to go to bed hungry, and then...
Read moreWow, I recently had the pleasure of trying out Pearl's Pizza in Lexington for breakfast, and let me tell you, it was an experience I won't soon forget. Their breakfast sandwiches are out of this world! Picture this: a sunny morning, a cozy corner in Pearl's, and biting into a breakfast sandwich that's like a flavor explosion in your mouth.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show – their signature breakfast sandwich. The moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for something special. The eggs were so fluffy and perfectly cooked, the bacon crispy and flavorful, and the cheese melted just right. And that aioli! It added such a delicious kick to the whole ensemble. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you want to close your eyes and savor every moment.
What really impressed me was the variety. Whether you're a meat lover or prefer something veggie-packed, they've got you covered. And every ingredient tasted so fresh, you could tell they put a lot of thought and care into sourcing their produce.
But it's not just about the food – the atmosphere at Pearl's is so inviting, and the staff are incredibly friendly. It's the kind of place where you feel like you're among friends, and that just enhances the whole dining experience.
So, if you're in Lexington and looking for a breakfast spot that's a cut above the rest, do yourself a favor and head to Pearl's Pizza. Trust me, you...
