Atmosphere 4 stars. I really liked the large openings and the entrance with the license plates definitely made me pause as I entered. We sat at the bar and the bar stools/chairs were SUPER comfortable. The bar itself is deep and inviting. Overall, the space is small, but it draws you in and makes you feel welcome from the moment you enter.
Drinks 1 star. Had I gone here 20 years ago I would have given the drinks 5 stars. Our bartender was super friendly, but I don't think he was very experienced. I ordered a gin and grapefruit. They didn't have grapefruit (totally okay) so I opted for a gin and tonic. What I got was 90% gin with a hint of tonic. The bartender noticed my surprise and asked if the drink was okay adding that he was having trouble with something tonic related. Kudos to him for noticing my reaction, but he definitely needs some practice.
Food 2 stars. we got the demon eggs, preeeeeus burger, and a waffle burger (can't remember the name). The demon eggs looked great when they came out. Deviled eggs, fried jalapeños, cheese and fruit. Unfortunately, the egg filling was mostly tasteless (some vinegar, pickle, or olive juice, would have made them amazing. The preeeeeeeeus burger fell apart, tasted mostly of rice, and had way too much lettuce. The waffle burger was okay, and I really liked the sauce that came with it. Ketchup, Mayo, smoked paprika, and some kind of heat...without the sauce the burger would have been mediocre. It was nothing more than waffle bun, smashed burger, and cheese.
Closing thoughts - I'd like to go back, but only because I think my experience may have been an outlier. The concept was solid, but the execution was definitely...
Read moreVery disappointed in the service we received at our dinner this evening. Family used to live within walking distance of Pietana and Rosemont Station so we were excited to finally take our kids to a spot we used to frequent. Pietana was packed, but the waitress informed us we could order the pizza and eat at Rosemont Station. There were only 5 people in RS and our waitress approached our table looking beyond annoyed when we asked about ordering a pizza. She acted as if it was a huge ordeal for her to walk the order across the street. While waiting for our pizza at 5:30pm mind you we had to be serenaded loudly by a guy at the end of the bar who thought we were all there to listen to him. They have no booster seats or high chairs available or at least we weren’t offered. Drunk guy at the bar got very upset when our youngest let out a cry and he asked our waitress if there were kids present to which she looked at us and rolled her eyes. Very disappointed that a place we used to love going to no longer is welcoming of families. Seems to just cater to...
Read moreI have passed this place off and on when I have found myself occasionally on Rosemont. I finally decided to go and check it out and absolutely loved the place. I ordered the Willie's Waffle Burger and added a Fried Egg, Bacon and Jalapenos plus the burger has a slice of cheese. This was a perfect combination to put on a Smash burger style patty. The overall feel of the place is pretty cool and has a few things that make it a unique combination. The place used to be a Filling Station with Service Bay and that is the now the main Dining Room/Bar. There is also a cool patio area in the front. Although the menu is small it has some great creative options hence the Waffle Burger I ordered. Although I don't drink they have a few hard Slushie options that are also pretty cool plus several local beer options. If your looking for something different to try this is a great...
